This is different than my usual content but still very helpful to those that have dropped their motorcycle.

4 years later, this ingenious video is still helping. I’ve been dealing with a bent shifter for nearly a year. Nothing I tried worked. This worked in 5 seconds. Can’t believe I never thought of this. The simplest ideas are always the best 👍🏻

Genius! Worked a treat after someone dropped my Yamaha DT50MX. In fact, the shifter might be at a better angle now than when I got it.

I searched through youtube for videos on fixing a bent clutch foot lever and this is by far the easiest, and most clever way to repair the foot lever. I cringed when I saw people taking hammers and pliers to their levers and banging the living daylight out of those things while still attached to the bike. Your technique is super cool since it leverages the clutch lever itself and avoids putting strain on the bolts and other components. Good job saving a bunch of people time and money with this video!

I dropped my ninja 300 SE that looks exactly the same tonight at a traffic light. Luckily i could get enough gears to get home, but was pulling away in 2nd. I'll try this tomorrow to hopefully resolve this. Thanks a stack buddy!

So glad I found this. I dropped my bike stopping at some lights and had the same thing happen. Was able to pull it back enough to get it back into first and hobble home (was close thankfully). This will help me fix the issue

Dude I've been riding for some time but I just dropped my motorcycle on a hill too and had the exact same damages you did. Stalling on a hill is scary, especially if you're bucked backwards. I realize this is probably the most important area that they didn't cover at all in the MSF / Safety Course in Canada

Will this void the warranty on my wrench?
@bitronic14 жыл бұрын
I tried this method, it didn't work that well for me, I tried pulling super hard and it won't budge (b/c the metal arm is much thicker than this bike in the video), but based on this method I have tried around and developped a method that worked for me. Position the wrench like at the 1:16 mark, then push it forward, not only the peg got straightened, but the arm also got pulled out back to its original position, give it a try guys.
@bitronic14 жыл бұрын
@Harry W let's say u drop ur bike, the footpeg goes from this ¬| to this `/ , so u position the wrench like this dude does at 1:16, u push the wrench to turn the peg from this ` back to this ¬ and in the process, the whole arm will straighten back as well. The way this dude does, will straighten the arm but not the peg if the peg is bent forward when the bike is dropped and the weight bends it. Am I making sense? I did my best lol...
@bitronic14 жыл бұрын
@Harry W yes I tried it, the rubber didn't break/scratch, it's very tough
@bitronic14 жыл бұрын
For me, when I put the wrench on the arm and pull or push, I can't even straighten it, it's a thick arm, I tried so hard I almost broke by teeth from biting so hard when exerting strength...
@bitronic14 жыл бұрын
@Harry W depends on ur bike, as I said, I needed to use the peg as leverage to bend the arm straight. If you have a smaller bike with a thinner shifter arm then the method in this video might work for you.

Lmaooo same happened to me lol. I leaned over and the bike kept going and going and going and going and bam 😔 my shifter bent. I pulled off the rubber and used a large pair of pliers and connected to the part your foot touches and pulled it back towards me which was super easy but taking the rubber off was the hardest. My shifter arm still rubs against the rod tho so I’m going to replace it

Have put 3300 miles on my new 300. Sadly this happened today. Was able to bend it by hand to be able to ride home however still bent bad. Did you get the feel of the shifter being really soft and springy after bending?
