Thank you. Easy straightforward instructions. I’ve been trying to find a simple way to fix my drawer. Everyone just complicates it so much I was about to give up. Then I watched yours. Got my drawer fixed in less than 20 minutes.

I had almost the identical problem that you had. I repaired it almost exactly as you, but instead of screws I put 3/16" dowels in the holes with glue. I did that because I was afraid the particle board would fail again. It worked great and is now stronger than before. Thanks for sharing.

Nice idea with the dowels. Was wondering if there is a 'best' screw for particle board.

Thank you. I was wondering about the size of the screws to use.

@@kaci7789 wow, that was 8 years ago I did this and the repair is still holding up! It’s on a bathroom drawer I use daily.

This was a really great video for me. I’m separated and just bought my first Ryobi tools today in fact. I won’t Lie I’m intimidated to use them but appreciate your hints

Thank you Andrew, this is my second time fixing the same drawer...I did the first fix with finishing nails and glue...that lasted about a year. Now I can hold the wife off for a few more months on the kitchen remodel! lol BTW - to all the RYOBI haters....we can use the tools just as fast...but for less.

Great video,a lot of the inexpensive furniture is made of particle board nowadays so your video shows you can repair the furniture and not throw it away...simple and to the point!

Thank you soo much, there are not many vids on how to work with particle board. I watched this because I wanted to learn how to join because I am making inserts for my WIR. AND you don't need fancy tools or machinery to do it :)

Andrew, Thanks for the vid man. I'm impressed with how fast you were able to do that. The recessing of the screws was clever. I haven't seen that til now. If I can make a suggestion. CA glue. Use some CA glue, Accelorator, and a clamp. Eliminates the need for pilot holes and screws. CA glue can be bought at Hobby Lobby. There are a few links out on KZbin demo'n how to use it in regards to particle board. Thanks again.

had this complete method in my head to do it this way. Glad it worked out. Nice job Bro

a sagging drawer is a pretty easy fix to. You can buy 2' x 4' board from Home Depot. Measure the thickness of the drawer and then buy the same thickness. Cut to fit, and your done. You will need to take off the back or the front of the drawer to slide it in.

Thanks for doing this so quickly. It's annoying when people dink around and don't just get to the point. FYI: The part of the screw that will spiral in and hold into the wood is called the "thread". No big deal but I think it would have been just a titch prettier if all the screws were recessed.

Great video. I just repaired my son's dresser draw the same way. The only thing I did differently was use a drill bit one size smaller than the screws I used. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.

Andrew, thank for the video, i got the same problem. This video helps. BTW, I was thinking we could reverse the back to the front if the rail holes still aligned up. That way, we won't be pulling on the same broken end again.

Good video. In my case, the particle-board drawer sides were too thin, weak and damaged to hold a screw without pulling out. So I inserted 1x2 or 2x2 blocks of wood that are cut to height into the front corners of the inside of the drawer. Then, from the outside of the drawer, put screws into the sides of the drawer and into the blocks of wood on the inside corners.

I have a problem, how do you change the depth of a drawer from thin to deeper? It's only about 2 inches high, not high enough to put books in. How can you reconstruct it?

How do you fix a particle board that is split where the screws are. A small piece broke off my desk and I want to fix it. Just glue it together? Will that be strong enough for the screws? Or just screw some extra screws on the sides to be sure?

I wish there was a KZbin class in our public school systems...phuck learning the difference with Pronouns and nouns ( since there is not a unified laguage system)I'd rather learn how to brush my teeth, fix my home and car...c'mon what happened to Shop class back in the 70's????

First take the measurements off the boards (particle board drawer), put measurements in a safe place. Burn the particle board in burn barrel. Go get actual real wood (pine if you must) and use the measurements to rebuild the drawer. Who makes furniture or floors out of particle boards should have their casket made from this crap. Do this and you will be glad you did!
