you could have done that with tweezers. if you're going to cut it at least use a scalpol and not a random stanley knife. that could have been a tiny snick but you made the cut larger than was necessary.

I soaked mine and but a drawling salve on it. It came out so easily I did it with my fingers and didn’t bleed but a tiny bit.

A box cutter??...jeez. My girl has bumble foot and I'm looking online for help to fix it, but now I'm a bit worried 😯

if you haven't gotten it deal with, usually with bumblefoot you can put the chicken in a tote with a few inches of water and Epsom salt let it soak for 10-30 minutes, then take the chicken out dry off the foot and peel the scab off. If the corn doesn't come out with the scab squeeze it a bit and it will usually pop right out. the soak in warm water and Epsom salt draws that infection out and softens the skin around it so it is easier to get out. You don't want to cut if you do not have to because a huge wound will just be open to infection.

Maybe this is the way they did it growing up. Geesh yall people have more empathy for that chicken than a damn human being in need. Please get some vet wrap, that poor hen may be traumatized when you rip the tape off. Also, looked like you used rubbing alcohol on an open wound. That had to be very painful for your girl.

I've reported this video to KZbin, yet they don't remove it. I can only assume KZbin doesn't consider chickens as credible animals that can be abused. They continue to allow this video to be viewable. If you are new to chicken keeping, please do not use this video as a guide to manage bumble foot. There are many reputable chicken keepers that offer great advice and you can also consult an avian vet and farm vet.

There's no sound because the hen is likely screeching in pain. They wouldn't have been able to post a video that was clearly showing the abuse of an animal if they added the sound.

Why didn’t you soak this foot take off the outer plug and squeeze it out instead of cutting it. Now you take the chance of huge infection. Not to mention it is very painful. 😢

No! The wound needs time to heal with antibiotics ointment, cotton wrap, and vet tape.
