I have a tear repair kit in my pack for my Thermarest mattress. It’s easy to cut a small bit to do the repair. I would suggest to do the repair from INSIDE the bag where it would be protected from abrasion and rubbing off, as well as pressure leaking.

Thanks for sharing. I never heard of tear aid,,,,,i think Cnoc and tear aid needs to do a collaboration and include a patch kit.

Great video! This is a great way to repair while in-field. I've found that using Shoe Goo on the CNOC bags works really well! Just a little dab on the pinhole. The Shoe Goo is nice because it stays flexible. The problem is unless you carry a tube of Shoe Goo with you into the backcountry, it is best to be done at home after the bag has completely dried and the area with the pinhole has been wiped clean with some alcohol swabs.
@BackcountryExposure3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the nice thing about the Tearaid is it's easy to throw into a repair kit and is a quick fix. Typically a pinhole leak isn't going to be enough to ruin a trip or be a huge problem since the TPU material doesn't really tear under pressure.

Thank you! Good info. The first CNOC Vecto I bought got a leak on a seam. I now have a second Vecto, but that looks like a quick and easy fix so that I'll have a back up one!

I swore off all water bags a while ago because every single one eventually formed a pinhole. I may need to revisit them (hydrapak was my favorite) knowing this fix will work. Thanks for the tip!
@BackcountryExposure3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Tearaid would work on the hydrapak material as well.

I've been using Hydrapak, exclusively, for 15 years. Once I had a pin-hole leak in my 3L Shapeshifter bladder. They replaced it with one brand new. Hydrapak drink systems are sold with a lifetime warranty on every component in the drink system, bladder, tube, bite valve. I don't carry water bottles; "smart" or otherwise. I want/like the weight of water to stay centrally located in the middle of my backpack & use the side pockets for "Stuff", not water bottles.

Thanks. I must be squeezing too hard because i've had two of these bags and they both sprang leaks within the first 5 days of using them. I havnt had any luck with other bags (sawyer brand) or other water storage bags like the MSR dromlite. I am not convinced it is possible to make a water bag that can handle much pressure. It perhaps is simply the wrong application. Perhaps gravity filtering is the best way to go.

I used a cnoc for water carrys and dry camping on my recent thru hike of the Ouachita Trail. It was not water tight on either end and I got 3 pin hole leaks. It kinda sucked. I bet a 2 liter pop bottle would work better.
