Back in the 'Old Days' we used to love modifying the Aquaclear 110 Cases for all sorts of things. Aquaclear is made from Injection Molded Acrylic, and any good Acrylic Type Solvent Cement works well for doing that. Still a good place for Aquaclear Replacement parts (U.S.) is BigAlsPets dot com. BTW. Try lubricating the Impeller Axel with a Very Thin (almost imperceptible) coat of Dow Corning Molykote 111 Silicone Grease. (Also great for 'O' rings and seals, and Faucet Cartridges, Etcetera.) And then a sponge on the Intake tube that goes into the tank to keep sand out of the Impeller. Otherwise, it's the same old grind.

@QuebecCichlides, THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH! I am so glad you did this video! I am new to the whole aquarium thing, and I took my filter to an aquarium store because it didn't run, only to get it home, and within the next several hours, find it had leakked water, leaving about a quarter of the tank full! I looked up what to do and our video came up. You helped me fix my filter! I'm legally blind, so it's kind of a double victory for me. Azul (a veil-tail betta) and Bullet and Das (neon tetras) thank you, too. Dieu te bénisse!

@aigomorla5 жыл бұрын
You should note that if u have to change the shaft and impeller, your best off paying a bit more for an entirely new unit as it wont cost that much more.

thanks for this video. turns out my impeller must have gotten dislodged when i pulled the the tube for cleaning. got it all back together and working. I thought the motor was bad when i tested it because it didn't do anything, but I didn't have the impeller in it when I tested it. didn't realize it was magnetic and essential to make the motor go. on our old one the motor turned the impeller. thanks for helping me understand how they work!

If you have sand in the aquarium, you can slip a sponge over the intake as a pre-filter that you can squeeze out to clean every two weeks ;)

If it's mbuna then you need to have a bigger group - I have more than 50 in my 110gallon and research the types of fish to ensure you have a mix that will work. If it's other cichlid types I have found that providing a territory for each fish with driftwood and rocks - blocks line of sight. Also having dark areas where the fish can hide and chill. In the rivers where these fish come from, such as the amazon the water is dark and there is plenty of driftwood for them to hide.

My motor keeps making a very loud noise whenever I plug it in, I have sand in my tank but whenever I take off the motor and rinse it out it still makes the noise. Shaft and magnet aren’t broken either... any suggestions?
@QuebecCichlides5 жыл бұрын
If the shaft isn't broken, it could just be eaten up. If it's not "like new", it may be making noise. If it's in good condition, check to see if it fits snug in the motor. If it's loose, it'll always make noise. You would have to change the motor if that's your problem.
@DaisukeRikitsu4 жыл бұрын
the propeller part wont come out what do i do? my local fish stores dont have a replacement and a new one is quite expensive Edit: only the plastic propeller part came off but the magnet is stuck thats why it stopped working for me
@QuebecCichlides4 жыл бұрын
Try with plyers. If it doesn't come out, chances are that the motor melted and fused with the magnet 😢 If this is the case, you'll be stuck buying a new motor, shaft and impeller unfortunately. It's expensive, but shouldn't be as expensive as buying a new one.
