Great job! Should hold up for many more years. Pro tip; A rockwool knife works wonders at trimming excess foam. Also, the Loctite brand foam, available in white, has a tighter cellular structure, better adhesion to most surfaces, great flexibility and cheaper price, is far superior than Great Stuff.

My house that was built in 1965 had all of the original windows in it. They were held in basically the same way. Oddly they had shims between the frames and rough opening but no hardware. The brick mould on the outside and the trim on the inside was what held them in. My interior and exterior doors appear to be done the same way.

I'm just so tickled by your Bob Ross impersonation at the end...😅 I think this project took quite a while and maybe you were just a little spent toward the end? Anyway, great job on this and thank you for showing us all the areas the previous exterior door failed, why, and how not too repeat those choices in the replacement process. I really wished you had that waterproofing tape handy. I guess the foam will do? It does look quite secure and hopefully won't allow for water intrusion when the the rain ☔ 🌧️ comes. 🎉👏🏾🌞🙋🏾

Like around the frame? Everything that had rot was before it would have hit the waterproofing. I think it was just lack of maintenance. Paint, clearing snow, those kinds of easily forgotten chores. Anyway, 30 years didn’t do much to the door. 🤷‍♂️

@@TheFixerHomeRepair No, not around the door frame. I mean water flushing are needed around the perimeter of the door. Install flashing at the bottom, you need to remove the door. The. Install door. Install head flashing beneath the house wrap. Then tap flashing around the exterior side of the door, sides then top, omit the bottom to let waste to escape.
