The good: spark plug removal, spraying lube in cylinders. Your patience. Your good luck in getting it running. The bad: This is a text book way to burn out a starter. Between 1:40 and 2:17 you rotated the crank but the water pump pulley did not rotate. This proves either the water pump pulley (top center) or power steering (?) top right were seized. It is always best to remove the accessory belts, free up the cylinders and valves first, then reintroduce 1 belt at a time to minimize the load on the starter or breaker bar (crank bolt).

Hey there.. I just bought a 1980 Tahiti Day Cruiser with the same mercury 5.7 260 and it sat for 6 years.. so I’ve been watching these videos before I even begin to attempt it. Any way of contacting you so I can get some ideas and steps? Your observations on removing the belts alone are invaluable. Don’t want to miss something before I try it.

No WD 40 Use graphite penetrating oil

The big issue with a seized boot engine is that there is a great chance the engine is cracked on the inside (freeze damage). If you're lucky then it's only a bad gasket from the intake manifold. Both can be repaired but the block being seized is probably not your only problem.

I just bought a renken spitfire v8 and it wont start, the last owner had its sitting in a warehouse for 2 years. I have not yet found the courage to even touch it and I don't know what to do, mind giving some tips?

What are you putting liquid wrench in the air intake ? Just asking I thought it goes in the cylinder

To help lubricate all cylinders it's run tru intake manifold and cylinders

No just put diesel fuel or penetration fluid it will be fine

The bolt to my crank has been rounded and I cannot get a socket on it 🙃

Better to remove the plugs put oil in the cylinders and rock the engine back-and-forth by hand with a socket wrench instead of trying to fry the starter

I’m not even a mechanic and I know this is wrong. Get a big breaker bar and put it on the front and turn it over by hand.
