In this video I will show you what I did to fix my shower drain which after tiling ended up being higher than the level of the tile due to poor planing ahead working fast to get things done and being tired.

This looks like something I'm trying to do. I just want to replace the drain and cover without having to pull up the entire tile floor. This is the only video I've seen that sort shows what I want to do.

I had the same problem. Had to remove 28 in linear drain. Used silicon to put it back. Still not good. Tile was also too high. Had to remove tile surrounding drain as well. So about a year later i removed again. Found that water waswas leaking past silcone into cement. Some parts of silicone separated from stainless steel drain. I don't think silicone is good for this repair. So I completely cut out the cement about an inch further around the drain an will repour cement in the whole area surrounding the drain. Then I will reset the stainless steel drain into the new cement. Then when it's dry I will redguard and retile. Obviously setting the drain and tile lower than before.

What do I do when I have leaky square shower drain with no downspout underneath. Our bathroom guy appears to literally cut the round drain body/flange to fit a square hole! And detached the 4x4 square drain pan and sat it atop and glued it in! What should I do? Any tips

I am sorry for just chiming in now. For whatever reason this popped up and I watched it. I am so sorry I did. I feel like I am dumber now for doing so. I hope this was in your house and someone did not actually pay you to do this to their house. I

Tileing a shower pan is something that should be left to the professional in my opinion.A do it yourselfer should install a fibreglass pan only.

Absolute worse type of tile to use for a shower floor, I had that exact tile as an inlay, two squares, at eye level on three of the walls, and it's gonna bleed, some of them are slate and they're gonna separate and some of those tiles will turn into absolute mush and fall apart, being on the floor is gonna be a bitch, sorry, you'll be redoing that floor in two years or less, live and learn.

Why not just take a grinder and grind the metal down flush to the tile instead of doing all of this. I've also never worked on tile floor drains so I might be talking out of my ass but it makes sense to me. lol

Hack job. Built lots of custom shower pans and all it takes is a hairline crack for you to have a leak, especially if the liner isn't done right. I wouldn't do what this guy was doing without waterproofing a larger area or redoing the whole mortar bed. The deck mud underneath that tile is like a sponge hence the liner. Do it right or pay to do it twice.
