This video helped me in no way other than giving me the courage to simply open up my completely different space heater and have a look myself. It was dust on the terminations I just blew away. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but when my grandfathers old General Electric 1500 Watt bright orange 1970's space heater died, I just assumed a capacitor or other component was blown and I'd never fix it. I had a look at it today and I was legit about to throw it out, but I decided to look up a KZbin video to see if there's anything I can check. I had no Idea what the weighted dangling thing was but once you mentioned it was a safety feature to turn them off when they fall over, I got how it worked and temporarily disabled it and it came back on! I'm so hyped, it's such a cool looking heater and my grandfather isn't around anymore, plus I just realized it was made in Canada 20 minutes away from me which is so awesome. Thanks!

Tip switch is super sensitive on my new Pelonis unit I bought in E bay no returns , can I disable the switch or tighten it so it’s not so sensitive, can’t even move the unit or it shuts off or if someone drops a shoe on floor a few feet away it triggers the switch

just fixed mine. The back of the coil was covered in fuzzies and was causing the thermostat to trip very fast. I'm curious, it seems the coils rest straight on the plastic, why doesnt the plastic melt?

I'm wondering where can I send my space heater to be repaired..
@marshill31012 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adam. Who would I get to repair my space heater. I think the problem is what you described because it works but no longer puts out heat. Everytime I search on Google for a repair on it, even if I put in "small appliance repair", only HVAC and repairs for larger items like refrigerators, etc. come up. My search led me to your site. If you or anyone on this site can guide me on where to go for the repair on it, I would really appreciate it so much. It's a really good heater so I think I'd rather repair it than risk buying another heater not as good as this one. Thanks again.

I don't think that you will find a shop that repairs space heaters specifically. Your best bet might be to call a local electrician.

My stupid little Crane heater won't turn off! So I have to manually plug it into/out of the wall every time I want to use it which may or may not blow a fuse depending on the day.

Yah its like my tip switch. I hav eone with ECO setting, degree setting, timer etc. I only set it for minimal overnight as I fire up a wood stove but here in high desert it gets 45 degrees like at 4am! The house stays warm if a littl heat is on but we avoid using the central heat as propane and elctricty can be thousands $$ a month as its a big weir high roof with skylight lodge house. But it was built with 2x6 and insulated well. Crawl space though. Back to heart....When I pic it up and sit it down the screen comes on for a second. All I see are the 2 dashes where temps should be but a red image that looks like a plug??? I cant pick up and down fast enough to turn it off or on...make it do something!

my vorando heater , when the heater is set to high and i turn it on , the heater will start , the coil will start to go red and then shut down. the only way it will run on high , is to unplug from outlet start on low , let it run for a few minutes then turn on high , and will run fine. would like your opinion on that please. Great vid by the way!!!

My space heater would not come on when I selected either heat setting but had worked fine the day before. I selected the fan option and it worked. I then moved it from fan to heat and the heat part began working. I have no idea why this worked but it did. I hope it helps someone else out there.

I guess somehow they gave me a defaulted to shut off switch and I rigged it to where it stays connected and just plug it up in the heat comes on. Is that dangerous?
@Game-The-System5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you bypassed a safety switch. Typically those are heat related and tip-over related. Neither is really a problem...unless it's a problem. The heat related one isn't going to come in to play unless there is a malfunction and/or you are trying to run the heater too hard (long periods with no breaks) or in an area that doesn't need heat (already above room temperature). The tip safety can be very important if you have pets or kids, etc.

Hey there...I actually have two of the heaters you just expounded upon. Both safety switch actuators (the plastic piece at the bottom outside) just flop around. I opened both up arms did not see the small metal piece yours showed going up amd down. Any recommendations on trying to fix that piece? Thanks. Great video

Did you ever get an answer to this? This is what mine is doing now, right after i blew the dust out of it. Now when i turn to heat "1", it seems like it's just the fan blowing. When i turn it to heat "2", it heats fine.

My heater works, but it doesn't blow air like it should, instead it doesn't really do what it is supposed to do. I have two of the same, so I know it's supposed to blow air. It should heat up and blow air almost instantly.

Yea I had to take it apart myself to find the issue. My heater turned off randomly while it was running and then wouldn't run at all. It turned out that the safety switch inside the heater is made of plastic and it melted so that it wasn't being pushed down all the way. I fixed this by unscrewing the safety switch (small little rectangular box inside the bottom of the heater), unhook the 2 wires from it, then remove the tiny box and attach the wires directly to each other by splicing or by using electrical tape. Takes about 5 mins to fix. Keep in mind that the heater will no longer shut off if you accidentally knock it over though.
