I wasn't able to get the clips on either end of my window blind to open but something that worked for me was making the blinds level (left side strings) by making the length of them both even. And then I tried one last time to pull down and then left on my right side strings and it helped bring down the blinds. Hope this helps someone else!

I fixed my issue but turning the blinds. Seems the angle of the blinds causes the lock mechanism from releasing the cords to go down.

Yes, sometimes making sure that the blinds are in the open position will help.

When you take the blind down just make sure that the cords are running straight and there is no slack inside the blind. Hopefully this helps. (Mine still gives me trouble time to time though)

Doesn't fix the root cause. The blind gets stuck over and over again.

You need to take the pin all the way out and release the blinds as far down as they’ll go. Put the pin back in loosely, and put the blinds back into the slots. Pull them up a tiny bit and try try again

See swerdna’s comment, but this will at least get the blind down so you can have your privacy. If swerdna’s suggestion doesn’t work you may have to just replace that blind.

All the lines and mechanism are on the one side. So even if the other side of the blinds is not working it all runs back to the same pin.

Thanks for your video. I can release the stuck pawl this way, but the problem recourse and obviously I can't keep taking it down for manual release when I need to open/close multiple times a day. Question: can I try lubricant oil? Or is it time to replace the cord lock? Thanks 🙏

Unfortunately it may be time to replace it. I don’t think lubricants will help the pin work better. Mine will still get stuck on occasion but is continuing to work most of the time. This is more of a quick fix so you don’t have an open blind where people can see in.

Some people have been able to access the top without removing the blind, I was not able to do this. If you’re having difficulty getting the clip loose, you can use your screwdriver to help. Just be careful no to beat up the paint.

Ours don't have the access to the mechanism. The brackets are metal and riveted into the window frame. I'm thinking that we'll have to replace the whole structure. The blinds are stuck open. Tried unlocking with a screwdriver. No success. Nicely healing scar on your hand, mate. A burn?
