Literally the ONLY video that explained where the screws are hidden in the feet and that you need a T10! Thanks 🙏👍💪

Manufacturers often play silly games to try and prevent DIY repairs. My Morphy-Richards 4-slicer involves removing 10 screws, 6 of which need a 'security' (non-standard) U-section screwdriver bit - a right pain in the arse. But I got there in the end, cleaned the solenoid and magnet contacts - gently with very fine sandpaper and then wipe with soft cloth dipped in a bit of meths - and bingo! the lever held down again.👍

I just junked a 4 element 3 control Russel Hobbs toaster oven where one steel element melted to a lazy figure S. Lots of screws and needed a long one too. Junked because the elements were spot welded with thick stainless steel wires so good, impossible to twist off. It had a geared bimetal ceramic thermostat (saved). I bought a replacement 2 element quartz element steamer oven with controls built into the front door for about USD 25. Somehow I bet the replacement does not last 20 years and several small internal fires. For those who suspect cockroaches - bag it up in in a plastic bag, treated with surface spray with a roach house trap at one end. Let it bake on a car roof in the middle of a heatwave. Same for microwave ovens. You will extend the appliance life.

First of all, thanks for the tutorial of finding the screws to open that cursed device :) I have the same model but the spring was in the right position. I tried to file the small plates (the two that connect with each other) and clean it with isopropyl but it was impossible to file the one from the back (or inner) side. I think there is a problem with power or something more but fixing this is beyond my capabilities :)

I have the same issue with an almost identical toaster, but mine is have 4 slots, with 2 different levels. One is working the other doesn't catch for some reason, I guess I have to open it up too... from your video doesn't look like it comes apart easily either..what a drag

Russell Hobbs toasters are horrible and dangerous. I bought a large two slice model in 2010 and the element snapped after two weeks. When I opened it, I couldn't believe how close the circuit board and element terminals were to the casing. Also, the electronic components were so cheap. For instance, the resistors' legs were like lead and its color code was just a decal. I changed all the components to better quality components and moved the element's terminals closer in. I also fixed the element by twisting the snapped section together. Also, you can only open these machine a couple of times, because those horrible metal tabs, that hold it together, snap and fall off. I repaired the toaster in 2010 and it is still working. A very dangerous machine with a casing that is roasting hot.

You kept playing with the contacts like you were using the device to send Morse code or something. So distracting, I had to quit. Just kidding! Great video.

Great content, very helpful. Just way too slow. No one likes watching the unscrewing of screws, do they?

Some toasters can't be fixed and a waste of time to try to fix it..damned thing still won't keep the levers down..makes no sense!! Going to go buy a new one now before I get a migraine..😠
