How to Fix / Align Gear Indicator on Ford Econoline - Adjust Not Accurate Shift Needle Ford E-150

This video will show how to quickly and easily adjust the gear selector indicator on a 2002 Ford Econoline (E-150) van if it is not accurately displaying what gear you are in. My 2004 Ford E - 250 problem is the Red gear selection indicator needle is all the way to the right of the 1st gear shifter choice. Ih will take a look beneath the dash as you have shown to see if I can remedy this problem by adjusting the screw as shown in your video. I'm not counting on this being the remedy. The needle does not move any more so in all likely hood it will be that something has broken or disengaged. I'm glad that you took the time to post this video as it was definitely helpful. There is a spring that is always trying to pull the needle to the right. If the little plastic piece that holds the needle in place snaps than the needle gets pulled to the right and stays there. You probably need to just replace it.

@@mobobb3555 not really. It would be easier to just remove the gauge cluster. I have a video that shows you how to replace the light bulbs in the gauge cluster. And that video also shows you how to take it apart it's, not too difficult. Once you remove the guage cluster you can disconnect the shift indicator.

I havce a 1998 Ford Econolone E-150. I can't get mine to shift into P. I have to put it into N to get my key out and then into R or D and push the emergency brake in when i park it. I tried to turn the little gear thing under the dash as you show in this video but it doesn't fix the problem. Any ideas of what I need to do to fix the problem?

Mine is definitely out of adjustment, the indicator is usually way off, but if I shift it all the way to 1, it realigns it, but gets screwed up the next time I pull it out of park. I'm afraid that something is cracked with the alignment gear below the dash that it doesn't properly hold it in place. Any ideas?
