if u dont feel like removing everything just open your door and you can see inside the fender if you flash a light inside. If you see trash in there spray it out with water from there or from behind the wheel.
@CashedOutCars4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point, you certainly can do that but then you have less of a gauge of how much rust is built up, and also anything pinched between the fender and rocker won’t be easily removed. That’s a good quick way to do it though!

Thank you, Just bought my first Miata and didn't realize the rust happened from the inside out. I washed the car last night and wondered where all those leaves were going. The kick panel on both front fenders and the rocker panels are rusted through and the metal is hanging off like a clam shell. Going to Auto Zone to get fiberglass

One of the first things I did for my Mx5 NB2 was the Paco fender braces. Which lead me into cleaning out the fender debris. Glad I tackled it early. And now I just undo the bottom two 10mm bolts and use compressed air to just keep clear. I always spray oil and bollistol in there as well.

I’m looking at a ‘94 Mazda Miata with 166k miles on it and it’s $5000 seems like on good condition besides the common seat wear and oil leaks from the diff and oil pan. There’s also coil movers and roll bar.

Alexxxmonmon Definetly too much. Try to talk it down and check ALL RUST PRONE AREAS. Take a good look under the car and the sills. Look for any rust inside the trunk and the rear arches. Also the second gear on these transmissions tends to be notchy but it should be smoother after the transmission has warmed up.

Hello to you. Looking at your informative videos. Can you look into the A-pillar rust and the rust that forms below the A-Pillar and along the seal down to the drain hole you talk about in your fender rust video. I am in the UK & my MX5 is suffering from this. Thanks

Hey how did you manage to get out the snapped bolt for the fender??
@CashedOutCars3 жыл бұрын
I actually ended up leaving the broken part of the bolt in since it broke off flush and there were others to hold the fender in place. You could drill it out and tap it a size larger, and they do make extraction tools to help remove them. Best of luck!

I got a 2000 MX5 NB with 38k miles with no rust due to being garage kept most of its life with routine maintenance. But, I want to take it a step further and check then coat my panels. Problem being it’s near brand new - It has all of its factory rivets still installed as new
@hellothere54634 жыл бұрын
Is there a more permanent way to prevent?:) I would love a set-and-forget solution. Great vid Btw!!
@CashedOutCars4 жыл бұрын
The best way is to use a strong paint / rust preventative! Lots of people us POR 15 rust preventative and I've heard good things but haven't tried it myself. It's also a good idea to was your drains with water once in a while and pull the bottom of the fender once in a while to really clear it out, but with a proper coating that would become unnecessary. Good luck!

i do support what you do man but you are not going to save it like that you just slow it down thats all :/ in order to prevent rust you must truly grind it down to the bare metal then spray primer then paint then something more buff to protect the paint itself because what makes these cars rust is just crappy paint paint will protect the metal not some coating it does not have anything to stick on so it will just degrade anyway but idk i hope it does work for ya I live in a climate where there is snow and road salt and what you did will pretty much do nothing here ;D

All that work to skip the most important step and half ass it lol Just grind it
@lukeharrison165419 күн бұрын
He's come back and said it's still fine about a year or so later after making the post, and he specifically said he didn't have the the grinder stuff to do it. If it works well enough for his purposes, it does. Just because there is always a technically better way to do many things when it comes to repairs, doesn't mean that way is always necessary.

@@CashedOutCars hate to revive 2 year old thread but the answer is you sand it down to bare metal bruh, then you dont even have to spray anything, all you did was put a sticky substance thats gonna get in the way of repairing the rust the right way
