How To Fix Android Phone or Tablet Stuck at Logo Screen and Won't Restart

If your Android phone or tablet is stuck at the manufacturer logo screen like the Samsung logo screen and it won't restart normally we can try a few methods to get the Android device to start normally again. These instructions may work for Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Nexus, HTC, Motorola, etc...

03:14 - Android System Recovery Mode / Wipe cache partition
04:52 - Android System Recovery Mode / Wipe data/factory reset
00:44 - 1. Power Cycle
Press and hold the power button on the device for about 10 seconds until the screen turns off. The power button is usually on the right side of the device.
Wait about 30 seconds and then turn the device back on by pressing the power button again for a few seconds. At the logo screen wait for at least 2 minutes.
If it still doesn't start normally then we can try step 2.
01:44 - 2. Safe Mode
To try and start the phone in safe mode first make sure that the device is turned off. Next press and hold the Power button until you see the device model number logo. Then release the Power button and press and hold the Volume Down button until the device starts up. You may have to hold the button for 45 seconds or longer. If you see "Safe Mode" printed on the screen you can release the Volume Down button.
Go to Settings and find Application Manager or Applications or Apps. Scroll through and click on the most recently installed applications and Uninstall any that might be causing a problem. Then restart the device by pressing and holding the Power button and then click on Restart.
If it still won't start normally move on to step 3.
03:14 - 3. Android System Recovery Mode / wipe cache partition
Wiping the cache partition does not delete any personal data, but hopefully it will clear out the software problem that is preventing the phone or tablet from starting properly.
To enter Android System Recovery, first make sure that the device is off by having held the Power button for 10 seconds. For a Samsung Galaxy phone, with the device off press and hold the Power button, Volume Up button and Home button until you see the device logo model number on the screen.
For Google Pixel, Nexus, HTC, Motorola and a few other devices, to enter Recovery Mode turn on the phone by pressing and holding the Power button and the Volume Down button until the device logo comes on the screen.
In Recovery Mode use the Volume Down button to move the selection until Wipe cache partition is selected. Then press the Power button to activate it.
Then select Reboot System Now. If the device still won't start normally then move on to step 4.
04:52 - 4. Android System Recovery Mode / Wipe data/factory reset
This method is used as the last resort because it may delete all your personal data from the device including your photos, music, notes and more. However, if you have Google Backup working on your phone then your emails and some other data may be saved to the cloud. Also if you have applications or photos installed on an SD card instead of the internal memory then they may be ok. To remove the SD card locate the microSD slot and open it. Then press into the top of the microSD card with your fingernail or the point of a paperclip to eject it part way. Then you will need to carefully grab and pull out the card with your fingernails or tweezers.
For a Samsung Galaxy phone, with the device off press and hold the Power button, Volume Up button and Home button until you see the device logo model number on the screen.
For Google Pixel, Nexus, HTC, Motorola and a few other device to enter Recovery Mode turn on the phone by pressing and holding the Power button and the Volume Down button until the device logo comes on the screen.
In Recovery Mode use the Volume Down button to move the selection until Wipe data/factory reset is selected. Then press the Power button to activate it.
Then select Reboot System Now.
When the device restarts all your personal data will be gone. But when you go through the setup screens enter your Google account name and password. If you can't remember the password then you can reset it from another device or computer by going to accounts.google.com/signin/re...
Once you are signed into your Google account on the device then your emails, calendar and possibly some applications that were backed up will be restored. If some of your apps are not installed then reinstall then from the Play Store app. Some apps may still have your data if they were storing the data on the SD card or if the data was backed up on to Google Drive.
Hopefully one of these methods worked in starting the Android device normally. If none of the above methods worked then the device may have a hardware problem. You may need a technician to look at it.

If you have tried every method in this video and your device will still not start correctly then you might try every step again slowly because sometimes it is difficult to get the button presses just right. If you have tried every method again including "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and your device still does not start correctly then the device may have a hardware problem. You might need a repair technician to look at it.

to all in the comments my problem was fixed (my motherboard and mainboard was fully fried somehow) i just made an appointment with samsug repair services and got my phone fully repaired vack in just 3days FOR FREE.

Thank you I'm glad this guy in this video said that factory reset is your last resort and actually it should be not any Resort if you have to factory reset it try taking it to your freaking mobile phone company first and see if they can fix it and then if they can't then try to factory reset it but you will lose every app and everything you ever put on your phone and if you're like me and you downloaded the app speaker studio and you created 4000 songs and you have no option to factory reset it I had to find alternative which is Reboot system now I didn't even wait to catch all I did was click the top menuhin bam know my phone don't turn off and on no more and it works normal

I have an S8+ and although it didn’t completely work the 1st option helped me to turn on but it kept going off again so I put it in the freezer for a few minutes. It had been overheating for a while so I just gave it a try and it will allow me to get through the next few days until I get a new one. Thanks

Thank you! This worked on my ancient Android ZTE phone. It was step two that did it. At first I thought it hadn't worked, because my phone's response was delayed. I set it down while listening to step three, and the phone came on with my home screen! I waited out the entire 45 seconds to be sure. The probable cause of my phone freezing up is that my internal storage is crammed full, coupled with my complete lack of knowledge and inability to remove even one item off of the internal storage to free up space on it. Its only a 16 gig storage, with a 32 gig SD card. I've operated this phone for 5 years now, three of which I have had no space to update it with. I almost suspect that's why my battery is so strong! No room to squeeze in any more planned obsolescence. Maybe you have a video for that problem? I'm not very tech savvy, but I can follow instructions. I have a talent for finding flaws in bad instructions- which too often assume the user has a basic knowledge. Whatever happened to 'user friendly'? Back in the day when these things were new to everyone? Thanks for any advice you can throw my way.

Excellent presentation! You spoke slowly enough with visuals to understand. Unfortunately, none of the 1st 3 processes worked, and I had to use #4 - Lobotomy. It took longer than I thought it would to re-boot (I think I know why), but it did reboot! The Google partial "reload" goes too far in a Google direction, but I did regain access to the most important features within an hour. 2 cell techs told me last week that the phone was unsalvageable ... Thank you for saving me a lot of Money & Time!

@@boodydakilla my problem is fixed, turns out the problem was that somehow my mainbord AND motherbord were totally fried. what i reccomend us just to make an opointmebt with samsung repair services and explain properly what the problem is and you get your phone back repaired for free in 3days. IMPIRTANT: make sure to save everything on an sd card and on the cloud because ur phone will ve fully reset wich means ALL of your phone data will be gone. also remove your sim-card and sd card before you send it in
