Haha yeah I did and they still chirped. Had to get new smoke detectors. Vaulted ceilings makes it hard to change them and it’s in my video game room downstairs where nobody else can hear them oooops

Cool stuffI I did the same last year, I saved a Super Mario World and sacrificed an NFL Quarterback (who need these stupid sports games anyway). I only felt a little guilt using another game but it was worth it I think. And I was so proud of myself because I figured it all out just by thinking about a solution, figured there's a site that lists every game and every board version. So all I had to do is identify my Mario board (it had 3 or 4 variants maybe) and find another game with the same version. I was luckly that there was this cheap game with the same version and this game didn't have a different version of boards only one so it was not a question that it's the right donor.

Is there a list of which snes games have the same carts? Which game did u use for your donor? I actually just purchased a broken earthbound on ebay and may have to go this route if a simple cleanup doesn't do the trick

what if they look the same but have different numbers? like the boards look identical aside from the number.

How can I tell if the PCB is compatible? I have one for madden i'm trying to use for a different game but to they have to have the same serial # or something? or just same size chips? one is shvc-1a0n-01 and the other is the same but "20" at the end instead of "01"

I realize this is 6 year old video. And I will say this just to save more games from a fate that was unessisary. This pcb could have been repaired. No board swap was needed. A simple jumper repair would solve the issue. And not wasted a pcb. If a pcb is so bad that it can't be repaired. Then, the method of this video for a needed board swap will be useful to people. But keep in mind, guys, these boards are slowly disappearing. And to keep the retro stuff around longer. We should make smarter choices when attempting to keep them working.
