Happened to me too although mine is older. What I did to fix it was have the Apple Pencil magnetically attached, powered off the iPad and then turned it back on. This fixed the issue with the key point being keeping the Apple Pencil magnetically attached because when I did it without having the apple pencil attached it didn’t work.

I unpaired it as you suggested and now it won't re-connect even though I tried with and without being plugged into lightening port. Pencil 1. So it seems worse as now I can't see it at all.

Alright, so my iPad doesn't want to pick up on the pencil. This morning, my pencil was low and didn't seem to want to recharge so I tried unpairing it. It currently refuses to show up in the "other devices" section, but my phone (not an iOS device) knows that it's around. I've been charging the pen and iPad both for a few hours and I've restarted, reset and turned off and on the iPad and Bluetooth settings. Any ideas as to how to get it to co-operate? I just wanna draw :( Other notes: it seems to connect to other iPads, it just doesn't appear to like mine as of the moment.

I restarted my iPad and it seemed to work but a few hours later, it doesn’t work again. Tried resetting to default and unpairing the pencil, and they were all temporary. The pencil works on other iPads though.

Thank you so much! I decided one day to use my Apple Pencil 1 but as I plugged it to my iPad 7th generation the paring message wouldn’t appear, so I decided not to use it that day so then I tried the other day and it still wouldn’t work I wasn’t worried though because I said “eh I haven’t used in a lot of time so maybe thats the problem” so there I go searching a video for ‘how to connect Apple Pencil to iPad’ cuz I thought that I was doing something wrong so found some but no that was not the case until I found this video I said this definitely gonna help and then boom it now works again! Really appreciate it man! (Also if u we’re asking I used the “forget this Device method”).

Have you tried resetting your Apple Pencil and iPad? You can do this by going to Settings > Bluetooth and forgetting the Apple Pencil device. Then, turn off Bluetooth and restart your iPad. Once it's back on, turn on Bluetooth and try pairing your Apple Pencil again. If that doesn't work, try charging your Apple Pencil fully and then try pairing it again. Hi there! Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Apple Pencil. Have you tried resetting the Pencil itself? You can do this by removing the cap on the end of the Pencil, and then pressing and holding the small button on the side until the LED light on the Pencil starts flashing. I've tried resetting iPad, disconnecting and reconnecting blue tooth, restarting device, charging pencil via cable none work. Still won't recognise pencil. Devices just has a loading circle. Could problems connecting to internet affect Bluetooth connection? Anything else I can try. Gutted brand new pencil can't return to shop £109 😢

Hi there! If your Apple Pencil is the newer one without a plug, then you may need to check if it's fully charged. You can charge it by attaching it magnetically to the side of your iPad. If it still doesn't connect after charging, try restarting your iPad and re-pairing the Apple Pencil by going to Settings > Bluetooth > Apple Pencil. Hope this helps!
