How to Fix Big Run's Big Problems

Forgot to mention in the vid, but this is not a SR hate video! I play SR more than Turf/Ranked and got Top 5% during the Big Run and had lots of fun with the event, I just wanted to make a video covering some changes I'd like to see for Big Run moving forward. :]

While I totally agree the stakes of the situation needed to be heightened in general.....Harmony is TOTALLY the type of character that would not care and leave her shop as is. I mean....it's not even hers! She's just house sitting for it XD

the fact that deep cut were so nonchalant about the whole fish invasion was really weird to me. they just like mentioned it and moved on to other news as if it was a regular event that was ongoing. new, fear inducing dialogue would be fun!

i mean, i get nintendo has to be family friendly and they cant really do anything too scary but like, even adding a few lines of dialogue of deep cut freaking out wont immediately raise the rating of the game from PG to MA+15, come on nintendo. could they have put something along the lines of what grizz said when you first walked into grizzco? and i 100% agree with you on that one, the disconnect between the atmosphere of the square and its citizens was quite blatant and it would be great if they could fix that somehow. plus the square posts thing. i dont know how theyd do fix it to make it more realistic if square posts are on, maybe the characters of other players just have this scared look with the posts anyway, its miles better from their current 'who gives a fuck if giant salmons are invading our home? imma wander around the square telling everyone that i see, that i hate cheese.' great video as always, i really enjoyed it! hope you feel better (or recovered from your cold well, if you recorded earlier)

I loved Big Run so much. I found it super awesome. I do agree with the awards. I kind of wish we would get more of them. Plus, It seemed like Big Run would be an apocalypse and I thought that all the inklings in the square would be huddled in the corner shivering but it didn’t seem as over exaggerated I thought it would be

Yeah! Promo video for Big Run really exaggerated the fear factor (ie. BIG RUN IS IMMINENT), so it's definitely understand why so many people were underwhelmed

This is probably the best criticism video against Big Run I've seen yet, you clearly don't hate the mode or dislike it, you just want to see it improve and your points were laid out very well. I agree with the first 2 points As for the 3rd point, while I do agree that it was a bit jarring to see everything so normal in the plaza, it kinda makes sense considering how oblivious the Inklings act towards the world, remember the great zapfish has been stolen 3 times and the Inklings and Octolings couldn't care less so it makes sense that they wouldn't really care that they're in an apocalyptic event. Still would have been nice to see a bit more urgency, I saw another KZbinr suggest that it would have been cool to see Deep Cut evacuating some citizens and I agree, I like that Idea Anyways yeah good video, you got my like.

Thank you! And yeah, you make a great point about the 3rd one! Inklings and Octolings really are oblivious to anything outside of their immediate culture, and so them not caring too much sounds pretty canon to me ahaha

I think they removed those night modes because of them giving a lot of eggs and not being that difficult but I still wish they had them for more variety

Big run was great, don't get me wrong, but if there was a change **I** would make, it's the enemy spawning, I feel like the Boss Salmonids and normal Salmonids spawn WAY too much.

I was really hoping for more content like the introduction of a new wave type or new king salmonid. I really liked the map, music, and mood the game set but I think it has so much more potential to be a really amazing event that really hyped people up

the super sea snails one i totally agree with, i’m already out and i try to use them sparingly! and also the teams who don’t win Splatfest don’t get any sea snails! this would be a chance for everyone to get a sea snail!!

Not sure if I've misunderstood, but all players receive super sea snails no matter if their team wins or loses! It's just if your teams wins, you receive more snails as a wee bonus

Honestly I had a lot of fun in Big Run. I'll admit there were somethings that needed to be improved to the mode. I think what they could do is add a community goal along with the high score rewards. Like have the HS rewards for people that like the challenge to be in those top % while also have importance that at least you contributed towards something. For example if everyone around the world got 1,000 golden eggs we get gear or if we reach 5,000 an emote would be nice. Something along the lines given the amount of comments of people that don't like to be competitive so why not add a goal so that people would at least feel good that despite not getting the Gold Statue at least you helped getting as many Golden Eggs as possible to reach a goal.

About the atmosphere of the square during big run, i have a theory. What if they aren’t caring too much because the big run is happeneing in inkopolis (wahoo world) and not splatsville? What if in the next big run, the map will be one located in splatsville and will be treated even more seriously than before? If this is on purpose, it would be super cool.

Yeah so I love salmon run a lot, it's practiacally the only mode I play! So you can just like. tell how excited i was for big run. but I ended up feeling like i wasn't being rewarded enough? Like we're still getting hardly any sliver/gold scales (even AFTER beating cohozuna) and my catalogue levels so much slower than during splatfests. I also wouldve loved to see more stuff going on in the overworld, maybe new animations of the inkfish being scared or running around or somethin? beacause during splatfests i loved to just stay and look around and watch people dance. But i did have fun during this big run.. Just wish there was more to do

I agree with all of this, big run didnt really feel that special in my opinion besides the first few hours, and i feel like there were a few design flaws for the SR version of wahoo world since it just felt too small than the rest of the SR maps, and it doesnt make sense to me how wahoo world and splatsville had the pink sky but the other online modes didnt, and i agree we should have sea snails during big run and have everyone in splatsville notice big run happening just like splatfests!

I had a very busy weekend for this big run, I could only play the last 1 hour. Why do I bring this up? because unlike splatfests, I didn't felt motivated to keep playing more, on the contrary, it felt that had I played from the start, 1 hour would have been enough to get the BR experience and move on to something else. At least in splatfest you have the motivation of increasing your personal splatfest rank, and has tri-color as a novelty (normal turf war too, if you only play it on SF like I do). With BR, I somewhat felt like I was playing normal SR on a normal day (specially since I usually play about and hour to get the 1200 rewards), and I really didn't care for the statue reward (plus, if you don't feel like putting the cool gold one in your locker, imagine the people that just got the normal ugly green one). So yeah, it was pretty fun (I mean, SR is always fun), but besides the map, it didn't feel special to me

Hi, there! Videos take a while for me because my living sitch ain't the greatest, and also that my cpu's performance is hot dookie water (bad) and makes editing take longer than necessary. I've never had a solidified upload schedule because of this. I'm hoping things clear up for next year though, as I really wanna make the push to be more consistent with my uploading in the near future! :]

Big Run felt VERY overwhelming, the stage felt too big. One or two extra teammates might have done some good but at the same time I don't want to corral 2 extra children when the other 3 are already a handful (Random matches were frustrating)
