I have an LG V10, it died on August of last year, after a few months I decided to revive it and bought a new mainboard and immediately installed the copper heatsink, but i replaced the thermal pad with actual thermal paste, works like a charm, no more overheating, and this thing flies, for a 2015 phone, this is still amazing, it's such a shame that such a good phone is prone to this issue though, gonna upgrade to V40 asap :) thx for making this video, it saved my phone

As a previous owner of three different G Flex 2 units, I can say they are extremely prone to bootloop. Many show up on eBay with this issue and many reports are on forums like XDA and Reddit. However, the media and even lawsuits never seem to cover this phone as part of the LG bootloop discussion. It is likely due to so few users after all the bad Snapdragon 810 news that it runs hot and thermal throttles often. That very issue combined with the poor LG manufacturing quality (G Flex 2 was made around same time as the G4/V10 and inside layout is very similar) make GF2 units exceptionally vulnerable to bootlooping. Fortunately the heatsink mod in this video can help reduce bootloop risk. Sometimes a battery swap is needed as well.

What temp does the CPU need to be heated to, so the solder can liquefy properly?
@TheFlashback5626 жыл бұрын
For anyone wonder if this works I can confirm that it does however results may vary. In my experience of trying to revive the v10 (of which I have tried a few of the DIY methods) this one feels like the one that has the best chance of success. However my v10 lasted for about 24 hours after reviving it via this method opposed to the 20 minutes I got from just firing the whole motherboard in the oven. If you're in a position where you need to get something important out of your phone like say a contact then save yourself the efforts and fling it in the oven but if it's more transferring photos and other media that takes a while then this is definitely your best shot. I was able to move a few gb worth or data, browse YT for a while and then the next day my gf was testing it by playing candy crush on it and that's when it started looping again. Realistically I could probably heat up the cpu again and try to refix the solder but honestly I think it's just a patch on a sinking ship and I wouldn't advise people to try this if they are expecting to get even a few months outta their phone. Still great video, and all the best to anyone attempting it.

I have a strange issue with an LG Stylo 2 Plus handed down to me from an aunt. What happens is: sometimes when the phone overheats, the phone shuts down and refuses to reboot beyond the LG logo unless I first plug it into a USB charger. This happens to me at various battery charge levels depending on how continuously I use the phone: when I use it sparingly or moderately (with phone breaks in between), I get down to about 23% charge before the phone turns off; when I make heavy use of it, then the shutdown happens somewhere between 40% & 50% levels; and even once this shutdown happened to me earlier at 57% while using the camera. And everytime this issue happens to me, the CPU area feels abnormally hot and refuses to either turn back on or boot up beyond the LG logo, but inexplicably, when I immediately plug it into a USB charger or computer (with the CPU still feeling abnormally hot), the phone boots up normally and even reaches the home screen (with that CPU still hot!). What do you think could be going on with my Stylo 2 Plus?

I think is a battery (or battery connector) problem.

@Danlerie Montoya Tried it and in 99% of the time it doesn’t help. Only plugging it to USB power will wake it up again, no matter how long I wait for it to cool down. If you use hot air station, I suggest set at 360 degree, low air flow, and try for 5 seconds only. If it still fail, try longer time, but for safety reason, do not exceed 10 seconds. I have lg v10. It doesnt turn on. ,i try to reheat the cpu and emmc then i try to on then it boots up. But the problem is after 20-40 minutes of using it shutsdown again and never turn on. Then i reheat again for the second time then turns on. What is the problem of this?
@gadogamix6 жыл бұрын
The problem is as I mention in the video. It might because of bad solder. To really fix it permanently, I think we need to reballing the CPU and eMMC, but I bet 95% service center can't do reballing CPU. Only a few highly skilled electrician can do reballing phone CPU on their own.
@springer-qb4dv4 жыл бұрын
@@gadogamix It's actually ram chip and cpu sitting on top of one another. Ram chip is easier to desolder and reball than cpu which has many more connections. Just reballing ram chip can fis many bootloop issues.

I never try to flash any firmware in this phone so I'm sorry I don't know how to do it. But one thing for sure, it's a different problem than shown in this video. Yours is a software problem, so you can't fix it with method in this video. Maybe you can try to find an answer through this forum: forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10

Can I use this method on nexus 5
@gadogamix6 жыл бұрын
If you experience bootloop issue on Nexus 5, I think it's only a software issue and you don't need to do this. Just try to reflash the firmware (software).

It's permanent..? Or just give the time for backup data...? How long this can be used..?
@gadogamix6 жыл бұрын
It depends on how severe the damage. For me, my phone still working fine till today.

Can this work on LG G4 dead due to software issue?
@gadogamix6 жыл бұрын
It's a different case. I suggest you to try flashing the firmware first. If it is a software issue, your phone will be fine after flashing firmware.

Why does everyone have to include the very unneeded music :(

Because some other people said that I should put music on my video 😅 Maybe you can silent the video and read subtitle only. There's a chance you don't understand my words anyway (because of my accent) lol 😁

Don't bother with this if you can prove your "NEW" purchase of the LG V10. LG is still repairing the V10 under recall warranty... That's right, the phone is basically still under a recall warranty. Just got mine fixed for free May 22, 2019.

Will it work using 0.3 mm copper plate?
@hudanehudan6 жыл бұрын
I already bought the 0.3 mm plate, and a copper tape, i also Bought a thermal paste, should i use the thermal paste too?
@gadogamix6 жыл бұрын
0.3mm should be no problem. But maybe you can use only one or two layer of it (it also depends on how thick is your tape). For thermal paste, you can use it just a little bit if you want. Honestly I also already tried using thermal paste and I can't find different between use thermal paste and without using it. But since you already bought it, you can try to use it, theoretically it's better if you use thermal paste. However, before you apply thermal paste, try to close the cover first to make sure you still can close the cover (not overly thick), because it will be quite messy after you apply thermal paste (I already experience that 🙂)

This is not a permanent fix once your phone starts doing this its just a matter of time before the reflowing copper plates etc stop working.

*Does? This? Work? With? Nexus? 5X?*
@gadogamix5 жыл бұрын
Maybe. But for 5X, usually is only a software issue. you just need to re-flash it. Just Google it: Nexus 5X bootloop or unbrick nexus 5x. So, my suggestion is, try to flash firmware first, if no avail, you may try to do like in this video if you willing to take the risk. Here's a video (not mine) about 5x: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXWVZqCap8x0r9U
