How to fix chalkboard "ghosting"

What is ghosting? It's when someone suddenly stops responding to your texts, right? Well, yeah, but if you're an artist, it's also the marks left on your chalkboard regardless of how hard you scrub it clean.

Hand sanitizer is what I use to get most of the ghosting off the chalkboards . Does a pretty decent job. You have to let it set for a minute or do, but it is worth it. I would be interested in this though.

I just went through this with my old school green classroom chalkboard/cork board on the flip side that I love. Another online suggestion which did work but not easy was vinegar & water 1-3 ratio and Magic erasers. It left some of the board with different shades of green and quite a bit of green was on the magic erasers which I didn’t like. I did re-season and that helped.

I would love to try this kit. When I get ghosting, I usually just paint over with more chalkboard paint. This product may save me lots of time.

Ghosting was the bane of my existence when I worked at Starbucks and did all the store chalkboards! I'd use a windex-type cleaner and magic eraser but it was never enough. Nothing like seeing the ghost of Christmas drinks on a spring board! 😂

Kind of agree with you Becca that maybe the cloth and the foam with the windex will do the job better than the paper.

Just FYI, magic eraser and their ilk are actually very slightly abrasive and will remove a very thin layer of material from what ever you use them on. So if you keep scrubbing over time, you will eventually ruin the surface.

Perfect timing for this for me-I have a beautiful chalkboard I got on Etsy that has had a message about respecting diversity on it for a couple of years. 😬What can I say I, wanted the message and was proud of my drawing and lettering but just recently thought” okay time to let that go and create anew” Now I have ideas for however it turns out and I’m very happy with the “all natural” part!Thanks Becca-always moving me forward❣️
