I used to work at a pharmacy, and had this very sweet but VERY deaf old lady that frequented the store. One day she came in & I switched to the voice I always used for her, which was considerably slower & much louder than how I normally talk, and said "Hey, hun! How are you?" And she looks at me like I just slapped her across the face. I kind of looked around for a second before I loudly said "Are you okay, hun?" She put a hand up and said "Lord, girl, why are you yelling at me?" I just blinked for a second before I suddenly said "Oh, Shirley! You got hearing aids!" 🤣😂 Poor lady said she had had them for about two days and everyone was screaming at her all of a sudden, she was ready to take them back! 🤣

As I get older (63) I've noticed that my hearing, understanding, memory & balance are all changing & I've accepted that it's part of getting old. So I don't get offended when the person I'm talking to sounds like yelling at me because I asked, "Come again?" And when they explained something again or more, I apologize that my understanding has gone down the drain due to aging. But I understand too that some old folks get offended and would insist that nothing is wrong with them. I'm glad that there are still many people who respect the elderly.

During college, I used to rent from this 70-80+? (I don't remember) Year old grandpa who always visited in person to collect the rent, we would spend an hour talking about the books we read since his last visit, and sometimes he would just drift off to a totally different topic and tell me a story or 2 before realizing he hasn't finished his tea and then drinking it in a hurry, and I'd wrap him whatever cookies or biscuits or cake he also forgot about 😅 It was always fun to spend time with him, especially when his wife wasn't there to rush him or interrupt his long walk down memory lane 😂❤ I kinda miss him and his endless stream of interesting books that he always gifted me or exchanged with me for my more modern mystery novels or philosophy and sociology books. Reminded me of my late grandpa who passed away when I was still a kid. I hope he's well and healthy

This was a common issue I fixed while working at the Apple Store. Quick tip, we were told specifically not to use metal tweezers as you could accidentally bridge contacts and cause an electrical short. We had a plastic tweezers and scrapers just for this.

There are three groups I will always protect and take care of, the elderly, children, and those with disabilities. I have a child with autism and people say the cruelest things to me. I get told if I don’t know how to parent I shouldn’t leave the house, I get told to go back where I came from. It used to hurt but I’ve realized their ignorance is not my problem. All I can control is myself and teach my kids to be good humans. Protect the earth, protect other humans and always try to do good even if you were wronged.

I was a nurse and patients would come in all the time without their hearing aids. I would put my stethoscope in their ears and speak into the bell-it worked and I always got a laugh. And YES, and I cleaned the ear pieces before and after each use 😊
