Proper job! Those backer boards are better than plasterboard in every way.

Hello, can you suggest what membrane to use between felt and PIR boards? Also what did you use to screw Jackboards in? Thank you

very good work

Did you use a vapour barrier before insulationing with pir board as I'm looking at doing something like this.

Can you plaster directly over the jackoboards like normal plasterboard?

Thanks for the video. Would you use Jackoboards on kitchen walls?
@SDRobertsPlastering5 ай бұрын
@@jamesgibbons5552 Yes you can use them on kitchen walls. They come in handy when a thin insulation option is needed. Although if insulating solid walls and space allows I would usually opt for a thicker product

Great stuff buddy. What would you do to an old 50’s cavity wall build with no internal cavity insulation? Don’t know whether to go full External Wall Insulation all around the house, or since it’s a full renovation, remove all the old sand and cement off the walls and do something that way… but what, is the question? Don’t want to lose too much floor space.
@SDRobertsPlastering5 ай бұрын
@@MarcusT86 You could opt for cavity wall insulation which is effective when installed correctly. There are also a few thin options you can use internally for example spray cork as shown on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZjFkpyCm8RpmqMsi=2zRC2wQl3A9druDk

Hi. I have the exact same problem with my bay, which I will be tackling soon. Two questions if you don’t mind. Would it not be plausible to try and re secure the frame back to the wall? (Probably not actually thinking about it with the weight of the window on it) and finally, what length screws did you use for jacko board. Thanks
@SDRobertsPlastering9 ай бұрын
Hi, In some cases we can screw the frame back however in older properties it's likely been that way for many decades and unlikely to budge with weight of the windows sat on top. 30mm drywall screws will do fine on a half inch XPS board 👍

Great job. Bay windows look great but God they can be cold. Did you take the pir Insulation below the level of the floorboards?
@SDRobertsPlastering2 ай бұрын
@@johnparker2636 Yes thats correct 👍
@johnparker26362 ай бұрын
@@SDRobertsPlastering Thanks - if you used 75mm insulating board but 3' frame does that mean there was no gap between the felt and the insulating board. In my case I have lats/ tiles. How much gap should i be aiming for?
@SDRobertsPlastering2 ай бұрын
@@johnparker2636 Around an inch is sufficient 👍
@johnparker26362 ай бұрын
@@SDRobertsPlastering Thanks- that would leave room for 50mm PIR unless add 25mm batons to the frame. It's a bit more work to redo the cill/ skirting but all doable. If I was your customer what option would you recommend?
@SDRobertsPlastering2 ай бұрын
@@johnparker2636 it all depends I take each job as it comes I'd need to see it 👍
