I love how your son actually LISTENS to what you're asking him to do. He doesn't overdo it or look at you like you have ten heads, he just performs the task and stops when you say. I know he's just a small kid right now, but you can already tell he's going to have above average intelligence. There is more to it than what I just described. I'd be very proud of him, Dad!

The KZbin recommendations are again spot on I just saw a big dead spot in my front lawn where I renovated this year and I was so upset. My own dogs go in the back yard and I just don’t care about the back as much lol. Luckily they somehow don’t burn the grass which is nice. But my beautiful kbg in the front was smoked off in one spot that I just fixed a couple months ago 😖. Probably the same neighbor that throws cigarettes on my lawn too lol. Good video!

I have zoysa in NW Florida. I've had good luck with using pelletized lime several times a year. It's applied lightly to the areas where my 3 dogs urinate. As long as I do this several times a year, the grass does well. If I skip a season or two, the grass will burn and die. Then I have weeks to compound the problem.

Good info!! I like to plug most of the time , especially if using a rotory mower, as to not accidentally blow all the seed and mulch out before it takes root, with reel type mower not really an issue, also you can add a little annual ryegrass in the seed mix for quick coverage , the perennial grass seed will take it over , might notice a little texture difference only neg

I live in Canada and this last winter was brutal for pee spots, we have two dogs that total over 300 lbs in combined weight so we deal with a bunch of pee during the winter months. Usually have snow on the ground constant for almost 6 months out of the year and the pee has nowhere to go. Spring time hits and it all melts, lost half of our back yard this year alone. We fixed it just like you showed but I’m afraid it can’t be established in time for this winter and we lose even more this winter. Might have to buy sod from here on out 🤞

You could go both ways, i chose to go with proplugger since it matches current turf the most much faster, seeding is good but it takes long time to mature, requires more attention and my neighbor dog tends to go back to the same spot again killing it, ugh.

i got sick of dog pee spots and just ended up keeping the grass at highest mower setting which is prob 4 inch no more spots, doesn't have the look of short grass but it grows on you. Im in cool season so with long grass don't have to worry about missing water, dont have to worry about sun skorching it, no more dog pee spots. However missing a mow is brutal, grass grows really quick here and since the mower is maxed out, you end up cutting too much to do mulching so you have alot of bagged clippings to move back and forth. Going to try to lower it down to 3 and see if that still works.

Question about the plugging method. When you pull a plug from good grass and place in the affected area - you’re showing that you’re then installing the dead plug from where you sourced the plug. Does that area also heal over time? Or are you just transferring a dead spot from one area to another? Thank you

I think the marking the spot and watering is the best solution because if those rocks in the dog's water work, you are creating a health issue with the dog. When you reduce the acid in their food, they cannot digest the food properly, then you have a much bigger issue. Thanks for all the grass tips, though. I do have a question about St. Augustine grass. From watching a couple of your videos, I have been doing everything wrong, and I have recently noticed this beige colored stuff on the tips of my grass that come off very easily. Dog rocks? This is new to me, but I'll try anything at the moment. I live in an apartment complex, and there are several of us that have limited space to walk our dogs. (My dog is paper trained, but he likes to get out for fresh air and a walk.) We have brown dead spots, and usually get warnings from the manager, so we've got to do something. Do you buy these rocks at a pet supply store like Petsmart? And, you put it in their water dish? What's it made of, and does it make the water taste different? Any help would be appreciated! 🙂
