Thank you so much! The ignition coil was the culprit in my Sequoia. I first changed out all the spark plugs, and I still had a misfire on number 4. Now I’m going to change the other ignition coils since I also put in new spark plugs. Thank again bud! Where I live, this would’ve been like a $1000 job easy.

You mentioned that this had happened before, was it on the same cylinder? I had a random miss fire on my #7 cylinder, swapped coil packs with #1 and it didn't come back for a while. Now I'm getting P300, and P301, P307. The codes come on only under a super heavy load, it happens only at highway speeds going uphill.

It happened on different cylinders - so these old packs are failing or something is shorting them

I'm having same situation... I recently has it happening. Was under load and definitely not getting power

@@blaurence4123 My issue ended up being that the bad coils wore out the spark plugs (probably 25k on them). So when I moved the bad coil around, the bad plugs would not play nice with the other old coil packs. And even when I got new coil packs, it would feel underpowered under heavy loads. So check your spark plugs if you haven't done so. Good luck.

How long does it take for the coil pak to register fixed
@JakeTiesler Жыл бұрын
Once it’s fixed it’s fixed, it will stop misfiring immediately- you can clear the codes or disconnect the battery to reset the check engine light

I have a 2002 sequoia did a timing belt and water pump change and 2 weeks later it's misfiring and I can see coolant behind water pump so I'm assuming its the water pump gasket my kit came with paper type on ours had metal on one it so have to redo the job I guess I'd rather change a coil pack lol

You mention that you don't understand how you got the coil pack for $40 on eBay. Well, it's almost certainly counterfeit. It may look perfect, with perfect packaging but be totally bogus. It will work probably but it's not OEM. Counterfeit auto parts have flooded eBay and Amazon. They are so good that a visual inspection may not reveal the truth. If you want OEM you need to buy from a dealer. Toyota Parts Deal has some good prices and you buy directly from dealers. Not third-party rug salesmen in some Algerian bazaar. I had the same problem on my 2000 Land Cruiser and had to buy an aftermarket coil pack from Autozone but I immediately ordered an OEM Denso coil pack to keep in the truck as a back up. My OEM packaging, by the way, looks nothing like the packaging on yours, for what it's worth. But these knock off coil packs usually work and you may not have any problems with it in the future. Glad to see you back on the channel.
