How to fix joycon not detected/ disconnecting from nintendo switch in handheld mode

Ok wow. I’ve tried so many things and even took the controller apart thinking it was a disconnected ribbon cable. The tape thing worked!

Tysm, I was getting really annoyed that I couldn't play any games in handheld and this fixed it

My official Nintendo Joycons would pair when attached to the console, but would not pair when disconnected from the console. Your suggestion of fully charging the controllers in the dock attached to the console, then updating the controllers, then a restart of the console worked! Thanks!

disconnect and pairing the joycons again worked for me. Thank you! i've been trying to fix this for a long time. I onced jailbreak my switch then the issue happened even after reset

I have problems When I connect controllers or joycons after 1 meter away from device the controller will disconnect or not connecting on device. Do have some device

Absolutely none of these videos have my issue that I can find anyway, both joycons are in the switch, bottom left of the screen on the video shows both joy ones are connected, mine has the left side greyed out, any possible help?

hi, i had this same problem but im NOT SURE if this would work. you may have loose rails, get your joycon and get masking tape cut little squares then stick them to the empty space beneath the contact prongs at the affected joycon (3 layers of tape worked for me) i hope this helps
