Thanks for your help, I've been playing PS4 since it was released, now I have a PS5 but I still use the DualShock 4 for my favourite PS4 games that I still play, L2 started failing and moving forward. @@RepairResell Thanks for the comment i cleaned it and it fixed my issue, however by eliminating one problem I created another. L2 works fine now but the right analog stick drifts to the left now. I didn't clean it too well because I didn't have the alcohol but it seems like I need to just replace the stick anyways. I also had a problem with the left naalog stick, sometimes when I would press it it wouldn't work properly in game so should I replace that stick also?

Could it be that you got a bad membrane or that it is not install correctly ?

@@RepairResell It was the little line connectors in the membrane, that little "flap" (I don't know how to call it) that connects with the pcb, maybe i got a bad membrane or maybe just bad quality, it had black dust in it when i cleaned those connectors, maybe corrosion, it's complicated to decide what was the problem because I live in a place with dust too, so, that could be another factor (but at the same time the original membrane lasted 4+ years, so.). But it was that part than it need to be completed so it can read the signal how it should be.

Try a bit of cleaning with IPA. If it's not working, try putting a rubberband between the screwdriver and the screw to give some extra grips. Otherwise, maybe an electric screwdriver could work ?

Still try it. Sometimes it look perfect and I even wonder why it is faulty, I clean it with IPA and the fault is gone (otherwise, the part might be faulty and need to be change or resolder). You could also take a look at your left trigger to see if there is something wrong there and give it a good clean.

Hi, this is actually joystick drift. When you aim, most game tell your controller to be more accurate with the joystick. For example if your joystick is at 11 % up, you will not notice it if the deadzone of the game is 15% but, when you aim, the deadzone might be 10 % so the game will make you look up. Best thing to do is just go Argos and get a brand new one I literally had a fresh control pad for 2 years never dropped look brand new but last night on Apex when zooming in keeps running so I come here did what he's said & my control pads even worse so when out to day got a new one problem fixed I just think it's a way for Sony to make money they don't want things lasting for years because if they did the control pads will not have holes where dust can get inside & grime

It sad to see that your repair didn't work. In that case, the potentiometer was either wrongly reassemble or too damage to be saved and need to be change. As you already get a new controller, you can always try to sell your old controller for parts. I am pretty sure it will make someone happy :)

Yeah but just a heads up you have to keep blowing it everytime it happens and resetting the controller doesn’t work to well for me Idk for others.

Just made the issue worse for me personally, spent 2 hours taking it apart and cleaning it to only have one of the green covers over potentiometer snap off 🤦🏼‍♂️ if the covers don’t close properly after opening them up to clean them your screwed as it’s really difficult to bend those clips back to shape without breaking them

If the potentiometer doesn't snap back correctly, you break off the bottom knob of the green cover. It usually help to put in back in place.
