Q: My computer is overheating and wont turn on. Will this help?
A: So to troubleshoot a computer that wont turn on, I would usually say to start with this video. However, an overheating computer can damage multiple components, make multiple components act in weird ways, and therefor makes it very hard to troubleshoot which components are the cause of the computer not turning on. You should try to address the overheating first. You can see that process here; • Video
Q: Why does this power build-up issue happen? How can I prevent it?
A: Make sure your using your computer plugged into a surge protector and not directly into the wall. Also, make sure to not use your computer around large sources of static like in bed, on pillows, etc. Repair tech wear anti-static bracelets when working on computer or put the on anti-static pads. Even though the computer case means you dont have to go that far, try not to use the computer around heavy static sources.

Thank you so much! My Lenovo yoga 7i died and their customer service was an absolute nightmare to deal with. Your advice of removing the battery and letting the static pass worked to perfection! You've saved me so much stress. If anyone else has a similar problem, you'll need a torx T5 screwdriver to open the cover and a Phillips PH0 screwdriver to remove the battery. I got mine as a set on amazon for $20. I hope this helps :)

Thank you SO much. I didn’t open up the computer and remove the battery but holding the power button seemed to do the trick. I don’t know what I would’ve done without this video, my warranty has expired so I would have had to pay for repairs. For those of you who want to fix it now/don’t want to spend money but the battery is internal, try just holding down the power button for a few minutes. Edit: turn up your brightness too

This is the third time this has happened to our Lenovo Ideapad. Both previous times the failure to start was due to a discharged battery. The simple procedure didn't work for me, but I have a T560, which also has an internal battery (and a CMOS battery). I put a new webcam into a T560, but afterwards it wouldn't power up and was totally bricked. I tried unplugging the charger and external battery and doing the power button hold, but no joy. Finally, I opened it up, disconnected the internal battery and CMOS battery too and held the power button again. I reconnected the internal and CMOS batteries and tried again, and it powered right up. I was incredably relieved. After puttng it all back together, it worked fine. Even the new webcam worked. Thanks!

Thank you. I was worried why my newly bought Lenovo was not working. My Power button was slowly blinking, but the laptop won't start. ( I thought the mechanical switch might have failed). Hi. Firstly, thanks for your great instructional videos. They are really well made and easy to understand. Makes a nice change :-) That said, am still having an issue with a Lenovo Ideapad S145. When it is turned on, the power light comes on, but there doesn't appear to be any other activity. It doesn't feel or sound like anything is happening within the computer and the screen stays black. Wow, wow wow! Who would'a thunk! OK. My issue was this: I turned my Lenova ThinkPad on. But the bottom talk bar was weird looking. It had some of the regular features displayed on it. But all my additional icons I put there were gone [such as File Explorer - This PC - Control Panel - Google Chrome - Calendar...]. My Display was all there and my Bluetooth Mouse & Keyboard worked. But when I ran the mouse arrow over the bottom task bar the arrow switched to that annoying 'BUFFERING' circle appeared...and continued. So got on my phone and came here to KZbin, searched and found your channel. I did as you said: Unplug Charger > Remove Battery > Hold Power button for 60-70 secs > Reinstall Battery > Reconnect Charger > Turn on. EUREKA!!! That fixed it! Must have been the 'static'. I DID unplug the charger & removed the BATTERY beforehand. But I didn't know about the HOLD DOWN POWER BUTTON for 60 seconds. So thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, experience and troubleshooting insight. Much appreciated. So SUBSCRIBED and certainly LIKED.

you can always buy a new charger if they're still in stock!. just order one from amazon, from the creators of lenovo, and try not to buy bootleg versions of a charger, I hope this helped

It worked amd I didn't take out battery as it's not the easy kind. I just the power button down for like 2 minutes released and nothing happened but I hit power button again and this time it opened up. Thanks so much!!! Easy fix and try first without taking battery out..
