How to fix Moen no cold water issue

Hey all, i had a single handle Moen shower stop giving me cold water, nothing but hot, hot water throughout the entire range, bought a new cartridge part #1222 for +$50 at Home Depot only to have the same symptoms. Here i show you in this video how to turn the valve upside down and restore your cold water, hope this helps! enjoy!

Thank you for your video. Just one comment. It would've been helpful to know that the main water valve needed to be turned off before removing the cartridge.

@@eportillo12 for sure, sorry! I did forget to mention you'd have to turn your water off at the meter or the main water line running to the house, its a live line, my apologies!

the internal balancing spool that a 1222 has musta fail? whereas the 1225 balancing spool is not part of the cartridge but is built into the valve body hence the cheaper price since it's two separate units unlike the 1222 cartridge cost is twice as much because the balancing spool is in the 1222 cartridge...you should hear the spool move back and forth when you rattle the 1222 cartridge, telling you it's not stuck

I cannot get the cartridge out for the life of me. Pin removed pulling on it with pliers or Chanel locks and cannot get it out. Any advice?

Try some hand soap to lubricate it

I blow torched a screw driver and burned the plastic to get it out, but before you do that try putting the center screw into the cartridge and use a hammer nail pulling side to slide it out.

I've got the same issue. I even bought a whole new one and replaced the entire thing. no change. cold water drips. removed the valve and i've got plenty of pressue from both H and C but valve back in no cold. i've been in contact with MOEN and THEY ARE NO HELP!!!! FK MOEN! I WILL NEVER BUY THIS TRASH AGAIN!

Hmm show us the proper repair then, since you're obviously a professional, a new valve will NOT fix the issue, I've tested this multiple times over and over with new cartridges, and again it will NOT work, but you'd know that already right? mr. know-it-all, oh and by the way, the video is for people who cant afford to destroy their wall replacing the entire shower valve assembly, but again you'd know that right? kick rocks bud. 😂
