OMG, I have had a Tempo trainer sat in my bag for years not working. It is the older model and has never worked. Defo, trying this trick this evening.

Thank you so much for this video! I thought I was going to send my son's gift back because the matters wouldn't work. I adjusted the prongs and it works well!

After a layoff I have learnt how to put the battery in correctly!

I’ve got 3 myself. Realised I thought the first two were broken but as long as I never leave mode one with them they work fine. My most recent one has never left node 1. Does make for some use of a calculator: eg. What is 78spm in seconds… also changing from 23.75 to 52s is boring, but I don’t dare leave mode 1 anymore. I’ve already bought 3 just for me.

I have had some amazing tempo trainers that lasted for years...then occasionally the dud. Sometimes it can be frustrating. Thanks for making a video with some fun tips, which unfortunately didn't work for my most recent tempo trainer that died (2016 model). Sometimes they just die, I guess :)

Glad it helped - at least for the other ones 👍

Great video. Any tips for getting the battery cover open? I can't get it to twist to the unlock position.

My experience here is that once it gets stuck in Mode 3 it’s often dead I’m afraid to say…

Thanks for the video. Mine will no longer switch modes. I was in mode 2 and it was working fine in that mode, as I could use the bottom buttons to increase or reduce the time between beeps. Then I went to mode 3 (with a click of the top button, of course.) In mode 3, I get no beep and no response when I push any buttons. The display is okay, as I am at the last value I had last time I used mode 3. But, since the buttons don't work, I can not change modes to return to mode 1 and see if I get sound again. When I take the battery out and put it back in, the trainer remembers that it was in mode 3. Perhaps I can empty the internal memory and back to mode 1 or 2 by removing the battery and leaving it out for 5 minutes or so. Have you seen this before? Thanks!

Fixed it! If you have the problem I described above, try leaving the battery out for two days. That seems to be enough time for the memory to be lost. The system starts out in mode 1 again! I have not yet tried to switch between modes. I may just stay in mode 1 for a while.😂

If the yellow portion splits in two, is the tempo trainer salvageable? Thanks for any tips to make it "waterproof again" - 2014 model!

Hey Kenny - which yellow portion specifically as it's all yellow?

This one's definitely dead from my experience - sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Thanks, in the last two days it started to malfunction, and today it completely refused to switch on even with a new battery. Lifting the contact and adding a pressure layer brought it back to life. I do not know for how long will it work though. Update: My TempoTrainer has some water inside (some fog is visible) what causes the problem. Trying to dry it out but doubt that in the long run it will be usable.
