Making sure the headset was seated was my issue. I put in a set of earbuds instead and it resolved the crackling and cutting out. Great idea. No need to RMA the controller now!

I’m tryna connect my AirPods Max to the controller using lightning to aux and on settings it shows controller headset but no audio plays. No audio comes out of my controller either when nothing is connected. Idk what’s wrong. I haven’t found any solutions to this problem it’s annoying

I can hear out of only my right ear and I can only talk if the headphone jack is a spasific way and it slips out easily every if it plugged in all the way

I unplugged my head set, put the remote on the charger and restarted the ps5. Let the remote charge for like 15 mins and then try plug-in your headset. It worked for me.

Addressed absolutely normal operating diagnosis, what are you the cable company? When i plug in my headset the I have to move the wire up or down 10 times before getting it to sit correctly to hear or be heard. The headphone jack on these controllers is SHIT!!

I discovered that the trapezoid shaped headphone jack on my ps5 controller itself was wiggling because the wire on my headphones has some weight to it. So, I jammed a small piece of rolled up paper towel between the headphone jack and the controller then super glued the paper towel in place. It no longer wiggles and my audio never cuts out anymore. DIY fix.
