Hey guys I purchased a used 2006 Dodge RAM 1500, The tachometer gauge did not work. I just wanted to show you guys how to fix / repair the problem.

Got the instrument panel out, added some flux, VERY CAREFULLY heated each pin in the two chips, reinstalled. Good news, the tach now works. Bad news, the headlights don't. Looks like the TIPM is fried. Awesome!

So I checked all the fuses, pulled the headlight switch and tested that, and verified 5v on the switch connector. I was out of things to try and so decided to bite the bullet and started taking the gauges out. Turned out one of the grey connectors didn't snap in and had pulled loose. I hooked that up and now everything, including the tach, is working. I'm gonna knock off for today and resume my heart attack :)

They need shows like this on MotorTrend TV, subscribed. I`ve got nearly the same issue with my `06 Ram with nearly the same mileage and I`d rather fix it then trade it in.

Ive got to do this to my 06 now. Im also rebuilding the 4.7 after a blown head gasket at 184k miles. Thanks for the video!

You're welcome, This is a really great fix and ever since I fix mine I haven't had any trouble. Still going strong 175000, Sorry to hear about the blown head gasket I know that feeling, I just had to put a new motor in my 2011 BMW X5.

Yeah, it's so weird...until you screw something up beyond repair. Why should you have to pay someone for their investment in education, tools and experience when you can just KZbin it.? This would be better if you weren't so slow and added a little VOLUME!
