Just did it ... and it worked!!! I hold a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering and I was seriously skeptical but had nothing to lose. Having a high temperature digital thermometer helped me regulate the temperature to 385 F. You are my hero!

I appreciate you posting the video which in most cases appears to solve the issue of the seven beeps of death with the Dell Inspiron M5030. I have something else to add to that. Why can't the consumer file a class action suit against Dell for selling a defective laptop. We shouldn't have to be baking a motherboard to fix a problem which appears it is a chronic issue with the Dell Inspiron M5030. Make Dell accountable for selling a piece of trash laptop, having knowledge of the problem and for not taking the appropriate action to resolve the issue and either fix the laptop at no expense or reimburse us our hard earned money we dished out for it!

This procedure did work. The only thing different is I preheated to 450 F, as that is the temp solder melts. I cooked for 10 minutes.

Computer store told a lady from church that she needed a new CPU. She asked me to just get her pictures off of her hard drive and she was going to trash the system. I found this and figured we had nothing to lose since it was dead. Put it in the oven as instructed and laptop works perfectly! Thanks for posting this!

7beeps on a M5030 no startup screen. Crazy bake the motherboard. Who ever first thought of this action? Great video. Carefully disassemble. Cleaned all the old heat sink paste. Alcohol and qtips. In my convection microwave oven I could only set temp to 375 so increased time to 11 minutes. New heat sink paste. WORKED. 😊 Backup HD. Do I trust it? Regular backups. Bought an Intel replacement motherboard. For future repair. Will need to follow instructions to startup windows 7 HD without reinstall windows 7. 😊😊😊😊

Just did it the second time to my Dell laptop - and it worked again! The first fix lasted just at 1 1/4 years but I used it normally. Not bad for a 1/2 hour repair job. Thank you, again for posting your very helpful video.

Man this is great, Im taking a break from copying all my most wanted files to external!! I debated for weeks about doing this after many attempts at the simpler solutions, I then started watching different videos while taking computer apart, everyone had left out a few lil steps here and there that I had questions about (because im picky). when I watched yours I was able to get all connections apart properly and would say the whole project took maybe an hr!! Now here we are!!! I will be thrilled if it works all night but will continue to use until I can comfortably afford the $500 I was about to spend this morning, at a not so comfortable time. Thank you so much for this tutorial. My laptop was serviced "professionally twice and the 7 beeps resumed after a couple of months. My son and I tried this process and it worked! Now I don't know if this is a permanent fix or not, but what I do know is that it works just fine right now and if it stops working again, I now know how to retrieve my hard drive with all of my data. Your instructions were very easy to follow and the process was not a difficult one. I would have been charged hundreds of dollars by the "Geek Squad" or some other repair service. So...I'm a happy camper. Thanks for posting!!

Yo bro. It worked. Actually i am the mobile engineer. And also computer hardware enginner. I have done similar problems with heat gun (smd). But after reading this post i gave it a try. Here is my process. 1) I disolder the inbuilt microphone 2). I didn't have oven and alluminium foil. So i use my microwave which has grill, combination, convection function in it. 3) i took out every thing from microwave like the plate. Ring. Centre base of the glass plate. 4) put in mother board naked. 5 pressed the "cook+bake" button set 180'c for 10 min and pressed start button. 5) its started sparking on the board. So i stopped it. 6) i pressed "bake/keep warm" button. With the same degree and time. 7) after 6 minutes the microwave's door heat up alot so i stopped it. And left it as it is for 20 minutes. Then i opened the door and again left it for 20 minutes. 8) i solered back the mic and. whoaah. It started up. Thanx for this. I hope this procedure help to those who has this kind of microwave but not oven.

Brilliant, worked exactly as you said. Only sign of heat damage was top right corner of mother board, and rubber sort of component (non-electrical), as far as I can tell only function is as a spacer. It was easy to pri/pull up to original shape. Set my oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

Brilliant! Thank you so much!! One day on since the repair -- and I don't' want to jinx it -- but all seems good with the machine now! I've run all of the deep (Fn) pre-boot diagnostics, booted into Windows both in Safe Mode and Normal mode, run Windows updates and other product updates, and rebooted several times, all without hiccups. There are only two side notes worth mentioning here: 1) Before putting the machine back together, you should clean off the old thermal paste from the CPU and the heat sink, and then apply new thermal paste. 2) Because you *must* remove the CMOS battery in preparation for baking the motherboard, when you boot the machine for the first time after reassembly, you might get a "5 beep" BIOS error, which indicates problems with the CMOS clock. I tested my CMOS battery before reinstalling it, so I knew it was fine. So, I rebooted, set the correct date and time in the BIOS, and the "5 beep" error went away. No problems after that. Thank you so much again for your effort and excellent instructions! Your explanations, procedures, and video are clear and concise -- really well done, and they worked!

As a PC tech I have owned and used many dell PC's / laptops over the years and I have to say that this particular model of dell was a very low end low cost variant of what dell normally offers and I would not recommend this particular model dell to anyone. Now, Dell's customer service on the other hand........ that is enough to make me not want to buy DELL again.

I was skeptical, but I tried it anyway, and it DOES work. I was successful using a gas range and using a infrared temp gun on a pan in the oven, set to 385 F for 10 minutes (actual temperature set on knob was about 410 F to achieve 385 F in-oven temp) . I made foil pads for the corners of the motherboard, I didn't see that tip here, it looks like he just set it on the foil, but I read somewhere to use pads to elevate the motherboard board a little.

Baked my motherboard today! To be quite honest I was skeptical but it worked! Now the beeping had stopped and laptop works but if I close it then open it, the screen stays black. Have to power off then on again to get the screen to wrk. Any suggestions?

Repair only lasted a week. Read that problem may also be poor cooling system. Gonna try replacing fan and reflowing again. Right now im using external usb cooling board. Any suggestions?

I didn't see anyone else mention that after the fix on the bootup mine beeped five times for a short while which is the code for a bad CMOS battery. It did stop shortly afterward and seems fine.
