How to repair fix Gas Gauge SeaDoo GTX + Troubleshooting: SU= Sending Unit
1. Check SU Wires 2. Inside SU: Check Float and Magnet 3. Inside SU F1 Fuse=Pull blown fuse Out and Bridge it with Solder. I have seen 2 types of F1 fuse. One: A round cylinder type as seen on this video. The other is the very very small (tiny) fuse. Google Seadoo F1 fuse and you will see an image of it. The circuit board has it tagged with F1. Good luck to you and your project. Make it your goal to make less cut and holes! LOL! Use a snake video to see what type of F1 fuse you have in your sending unit so you cut only where it is necessary. Check my Other Videos: 1. Sorry for redundancy: I repeat myself because I do not know what will make it to the final cut of the video. I found most "clips" were relevant so please be patient for I seem to repeat myself a lot.

I do not know how you figured this out but I am glad you did. I just did it and it worked. I had the original tube but accidentally cut too far into the gas line at the top. Brain fart and bad vision. Ordered a used one of Ebay and did what you showed. I used my old one as a template on what not to do and the dang thing works. Thanks again.

GTX is alot easier than GSX to get the gas guage float tube out. GSX you need to pull the gas and oil tanks out. I ended up with all new gas lines and still having a dead gas gauge. Seadoo mechanic said if I fix it it will fail again. It is what it is. Thanks for the video.

if its anything like the XP / SPX you can get it out, just takes a bit of swearing and the right angles.... but it does come out with tanks installed.

Thank You I just did my 1997 Seadoo GTI, Although mine was a double wammy, the float and the bottom cover of the baffle was at the bottom of the tank. and the F1 fuse was blown. works good now!!

Bottom line: 1. Check Sending Unit Wires 2. Check Float and Magnet 3. Blown F1 Fuse. Pull out fuse and bridge it with solder (where the fuse used to be). I have seen 2 f1 fuse. You can test the gauge and wiring by simply placing a jumper in the sending units plug on the boat side. Simply place a jumper in it and the gauge will read full (all LED's lit), pull jumper and it will slowly count down the LED's. If this works, then your float is leaking, mags fell off or F1 Fuse dead, either way, pull the probe out thru the glove box (center storage) cause it's the cause. If jumper don't light up gauge LED's, then most likely the fuse in the sealed box or possibly wiring or the gauge itself (but highly unlikely, jumper should work 99%). DON'T DO ALL THE CUTTING AND GRINDING on the sending unit, you can simply cut a small door/flap into the probe about 2.25" down on the seam with a razor blade, poke razor in probe, it cuts fairly easy, Only open it up enough to solder the jumper. With a small opening you really do not need to do all the welding back together, simply close the flap, cause that area does not need to be sealed, note the vent hole on the other side, only the pickup tube areas need to be sealed. Do not cut too deep and hit board. Test after repair of F1 fuse with and ohm meter hooked up to the sending unit wires, as the magnets slide up and down, the ohms with change.

If you take the floats out make sure they float in gas , they looked fine , they floated in a bucket of water , I reinstalled the sender ( royal pain in the asson a 1997 GSi ) and it didn't work the second time I tried in gas and they sank . so float in water , sank in gas due to the difference in density!!! . new floats cured the problem !!

Same here, Kevin. Float had no visible damage, but sank straight to the bottom of a Mason jar full of gas!

I get a reading from my sender and it receives voltage but nothing on the display. Last ride the sender plug come off inside the tank and it was beeping low fuel. So I'm certain it won't beep with plug back in because no display

oh hey any tips on removing the gastank from a 94 gtx? the fuel inlet hose is not just the standard rubber hose, it has an internal hose. seems very little room to remove it at tank as that internal hose sticks into the tank quite a bit. Thank you...

quick question, is it possible to just make a hole where the pink wires connect to the board and then just unsolder it there ?? Just seeing if I can disconnect the board, slide it out fully for the repair and then reconnect it. I like your inline fuse idea, much easier to service and seadoo is somewhat idiotic for not placing an inline fuse for these things. Its hard enough to remove the sending unit, let alone now throw it out for a burned out fuse lol. Thanks again for the videos.

if you look at the side of the sender by the inlet tubes the tubes are identified in abreviation.. ret for return ect.

yes exactly, no need to mark them up, at least my 99 spx has them written on the sides so its easy to reconnect. I like the add blue tape on the hoses with tags but they usually wash away.

What do you think it means if the gauge always reads one bar no matter how much gas is in it? Also not getting the beeps when I attached the key?

I checked my gauge. I can see the float moving with an ohm meter. When I hook it up to the Ski, if I hold it upside down it shows full (i.e. full tank). Right side up (i.e empty tank), nothing but it also shows nothing in the when the float is anywhere else in the track. Is it the sender or the actual gauge? I checked the wiring and it appears to be ok.

Brian, does the ohm meter gives you a numerical reading? Different numerical reading from empty to half to full? If the ohm meter gives you readings... your sending unit is fine. Then it could be one of the two: 1. Your Fuel Gauge 2. The wires between the fuel gauge and the sending unit (do continuity test)

My F1 was bad but had replaced the float hoping that would fix. Now i lost my factory float and the aftermarket is smaller and acually sticks to the resistors metal on the board. it seemed like it would break free but seems to read inacurrate. should I take the top or bottom magnet out to make it stick less.

I just did my fuse and plugged it in and stuck it in the tank. I am now showing full fuel even though I have half a tank. Did I solder something wrong?

Check your float...perhaps one of the magnets fell and the float is now stuck.

Hi I cut mine open and I can see the F1 stamp on the board but I don't have any such fuse. Have you seen this?

Yes, different readings. I guess that I will start looking for a gauge. Pain to get the sender out, but now know. Any words of wisdom on the gauge?

Hey I have the same boat it's a 2001 challenger 2000 runs great but when it gets to 45000rpms it stalls out will start right back up but continues to do the same thing so any help would be great

1st to check are the fuel filters. Mine has 3. 1 external and 2 internal (carb)

May be battery voltage regulator, they are very common to fail and cause the ski to cut out as it's overvolting.

So if I heard correctly - you removed the old blown fuse from the sending unit, simply soldered a wire to bridge that gap, and put the new fuse on the wires outside of the sending unit/gas tank so you can more easily access it in the future?

+Nicholas Wittemen That is correct! I removed the blown f1 fuse... bridged it with a glob of solder, then added a mini inline fuse holder with a 250ma fuse. As you said, for ease of access and for the next time it gets overloaded (blown)

Hi there. Great video. I have a 1999 GTX Limited with same gas gauge issue. I removed sending unit and tested the OHM and there was no change as the float slid top to bottom. Float is in good condition too. By process of elimination I'm quite certain its the F1. I cut the sending unit and located on the board a stamp that says F1, but I don't see a F1 fuse? I'm assuming there are different boards for different years, but I'm not sure how to go about "removing" this fuse. Can I send you a picture of what it looks like?

I sent you an edited pic. Your cut is in the rught place. Just place a soldering iron as you push it to the side... it will come off. Then, just put a glob of solder to connect the circuit board (void from f1) where the f1 came from. Good luck!

You need that magnet - float. You may not need to change the fuse after all. Just do the float - with magnet. You must have magnet

cbatilo my jet sky, I don't see any gasoline come out when I put 12v on the leads of the pump. I took it out and it had no bottom cap or magnets. Does the pump make any noise when is powerd?

@@SamVasquezGerman hahha then yes ignore all repair videos, run it on FULL fuel, then when it starts to stumble, switch to reserve and thats your sign to return to shore / empty.

they probably fell into the tank, like mine. The circuit board is a series of little glass tubes with metal connectors, they click along as the magnet rolls up and down. Mine was inside the tank, or the previous owner carried out some home made repair on it which clearly did not work.
