Great video, thanks for documenting this for everyone. From my research it seems this model is not as prone to some of the other ice build issues such as icing on the fan. I have the same model. Bought the house in Feb 2020, not sure how old the fridge is and if the previous owner had this issue before. I did not experience the issue for a year and then in late Feb 2021 I had a big ice sheet on bottom of fridge. I defrosted the ice dam and cleared the drain. I checked the drain tubes and they were not blocked with "gunk". I reassembled the fridge and didnt think about it until this past weekend. This past Sunday I noticed water in my vegetable and fruit crisper draws. I emptied them and every morning since I find a little water in my right draw and a little on bottom of fridge. I guess I have a frozen drain again. I ordered the longer drain clip and plan to defrost ice and put in the longer drain clip this weekend. A couple things to note: A month or so before the issue arrived I hooked up a water line and activated my ice maker. When I pushed my fridge back into the cabinet recess I pushed it too close to the wall. In the fridge manual it calls for 4" of gap between the back of fridge and wall for proper air flow. Not sure if this could have contributed to the issue but wanted to note it for anyone else experiencing the issue and to ensure you have at least 4" gap. Again, this weekend I am installing the new clip, cleaning the back of fridge of dust and ensuring a 4" gap. I will follow up with results.

Ive fixed a couple of these, with a simple piece of bare copper wire wrapped around the element, extending 2" down the drain pipe. . The gross part is, the stagnant water sitting in the crisper leaks into the ice tray below. The water had bits of mold, and rotten food. The customer was consuming the dirty ice, unaware of the health risk. Its absolutely pathetic that an appliance only two years old should be up for repair already.

I agree with you they don’t make appliances like they used to you probably have to replace the two tubes in the back if the pizza rubber on the tube is toasted in heart maybe hot air is going inside the tube in is frozen over clog in the drain

I have the same model and year fridge as you do, 2019 with the curved heating element. Did using this drain clip work for you? When I put mine on it was very loose and obviously it doesn't make full contact with the heating element, I tighten in so that it had a good grip and I hope it works....

Thank you so much for this video! Previous home owner got this fridge pretty close to selling the home so I think ours is fairly new. Been living here for over a year and haven't had any issues. We were told to unplug it once a month and let it thaw out. We used to do it more regularly since we have a second fridge. However, the past few months we've had both fridges heavily stocked and haven't thawed the Samsung as often as we should. Usually the freezer would freeze up with excess ice cluing us in that it was in desperate need of a thaw. But suddenly the freezer has been staying clear. Then we noticed one day that our bottom vegetable drawers ended up getting water in them and freezing into the fridge. Cleaned it up and it was fine for a few days before once again freezing over. I'm hoping a good 1-2 day thaw will help. But I'll also check the drain lines. Very grateful for this video! Hoping I can have my fridge back to normal now.

I just didn't think the drain lines would be full of much of anything, but that is my last thing to check.

@@oblivion452 I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble still. I was lucky. I was finally able to completely empty the fridge/freezer a couple weeks ago. I let it sit open and unplugged for about 4 days. Then I opened the back panel and saw no water so plugged it back in. It's been a couple weeks now and no issues so here's hoping it doesn't start puddling up again. Sorry I'm not much help!

Thank you for this great video. I have done these repairs and water still pools under the deli drawer. I have replaced the Genuine OEM GE WR23X10582 Assembly Temp Sensor for Refrigerator, drain clip, defrost heater, and water reservoir since the water inside froze and caused it to leak. Hello, thanks for the video! I have exactly the same model of this Samsung RF18HFENBSR and I got the same issue for 2 - 3 months. But when I unscrewed those three screws, it's still not so easy to pull out the plastic sheet, underneath the plastic sheet it's a plastic foam board and feels with very strong adhesive tapes in somewhere I am not sure, so if I pull the plastic sheet down hard, then it is likely to break. Did you get this issue and how did you deal with it? Thanks!

IF your ice maker is below, yes. The excess water from the crisper leaks into the ice mechanism and freezes it up.

Use a #12 gauge bare copper wire, wrap around heating element a couple of times and down the drain line for about 2-3”

@@gregc.4117 I tried this and it was physically impossible to bend 12 gauge wire around the heating element. The 12 gauge copper wire was relatively hard to bend (even with pliers) and the heating element is seated right up against the back of the fridge and the radiator is directly above it so there is no way to get in there to wrap the wire. I tried just snugging the drain clip that is shown in this video, hoping it makes enough contact to distribute the heat.

My heat element (black bar) isn't straight at the bottom like the one in the video. It's curved down and almost touches the drain hole. Been defrosting it for 5+ hours with a heater blowing right into the fridge but still not draining.

If the drain line is clogged by ice you need to put boiling water down the drain worst case scenario you need to let it defrost for 24 to 48 hours with the doors open if the drain line is clogged by gunk or debris you need to clean the drain lines in the bottom back of the refrigerator like I show on the video those things to work. This is a temporary fix. You need to find why its overcooling. Ice maker might be turned "on" with no water supply connected or very poor water pressure. Could need a freezer fan, could need a gasket, could need the left door flap etc. This will not get you a long term fix.
