I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.

Perfect timing! I have the same job to do on a White/MTD this weekend. Mine was definitely mice. They got the wheel rubber, and gnawed a little on every piece of plastic and rubber they could find. Ive never had that happen before. I guess its a good excuse to replace everything and know its all in good shape. I guess I also better contact HR, and set up a meeting with the barn cats. 😁

I have a 20-year-old Murray with the Tecumseh engine. I did a video on replacing that friction wheel. The replacement friction wheel wasn't actually much larger in diameter than the old one. However, I had tightened the cable adjustment as much as it would go, but it was still an issue for me. Replacing it wasn't too bad after I watched one of your videos, and it works perfectly fine now.

Thanks Donny!! I have a (25?) year old MTD tracked machine that I thought had the same problem last year. I bought a new disc, but as it turns out, the disc was fine, but the coiled spring pin connecting the chain and whatchamacallit gears snapped off. Thankfully a fastener shop here in Alaska had plenty, so I got it up and running in no time. Thanks, and another great video!

I have a similar machine and used your video from a few years ago to replace my 20 year old friction disk on my 8 HP Craftsman and the two belts about a month ago. I should have cleaned my hex shaft with cleaner. Didn’t recall doing that on your earlier video. Also replaced the Bolt/nut on the one wheel with a second linch pin. Seems to work just fine. Not sure if it’s that important to have a bolt on the one wheel.

Hi the last time I did this I put two elastic rubber bands over the washers in a figure 8 to hold both of them in place, then I tied a piece of thin string between the bushings on either end to hold them on the shaft, that way no matter what you do nothing will fall off, when it was in place I put one bolt in each bearing then I removed the string and bands and put the other two bolts back in.

Biggest problem with this setup is if there are oil seals leaking from above. The oil ends up on the friction disk then you’re screwed. Replacing shaft seals is a big pain.😊

Long time watcher and happy student. Replaced a friction disc on an old Sears a couple of days ago, the job was a bit frustrating and comforted that I am not alone. I'm left wondering if 3D printing a sleeve using the rubbery TPU could cover a used disc in cases where you can't get parts, but taking it apart just isn't appealing right now.

What if you have bad traction on low gears, but 3rd+ works just fine, I am guessing that is due to the adjustment you show at the end somehow? I mean if the disc is bad, it would be bad traction in all gears.

Don’t, luv the channel and your style explaining what you are doing. I have a request. Trying to decide whether I want to but a machine with ‘zero turn’ or ‘turn assist’. They usually have a lever below the hand grip to stop the shell on that side. I cannot find any videos as to whether these systems are worth it, how they work, and do they need and additional maintenance. That would be an interesting video for sure. Tim MA, USA

I’ve got both types. I think it’s not necessary as the one without it is just as easy to turn, and less likely to have a system failure. More weight, more parts, more things to keep adjusted properly. Just like heated grips, don’t really need them with proper gloves. 🇨🇦👍
