How to fix spincast reel

How to fix a spincast fishing reel when button won’t work and handle won’t rotate. Your situation may be different but the fishing line was wrapped around the spincast reel’s pin and preventing the spincast reel’s button from being able to push-in and handle not spinning. My six-year-old son wanted to go fishing for his birthday.So mommy bought the fishing license and but one of those combination , telescoping rods that come with the beginner's tackle and we went out the next day. Thanks for showing me what's inside that plain-metal housing, which...I'd thought might blow up like a clockspring if I were so foolish as to unscrew it. Prolly got some crud in there that's keeping it from freespooling...I'll soon see. BTW are these known for perhaps not spooling in without, I'm guessing, overlaps in line - that would tend also to make them not spool out freely? Is one supposed to put a little drag on the line when reeling in, or can the line just be floating in the breeze, and it should still wind OK?

Hi David. Spincast reels can be very finicky in many ways when it comes to setting the drag and spooling. You should be ok reeling in without having to put extra drag on the line. I recommend unscrewing the top here and there to clean out any debris that may be preventing your reel from working properly. Hope this helps. Fish on my friend!

i have a lunker gear rod from bass pro shops i was casting with it like i usually do and then i pressed the button a little to the left and the button fell into the reel is there any way i can fix it at home or will i have to do it professionally?

I’m not quite sure about that. I’d recommend taking it apart to see if it’s something easy. Just be careful not to lose anything and to put everything back together exactly the way it was. Good luck.

Hey Michael. Once you unscrew the top cover to access the inside of the reel, hold the reel handle to prevent it from spinning while twisting the metal top that’s located inside (should be counter clockwise) at the same time to take it off. I hope this helps.

The easiest way is to take off the top cone to access the spool. Then tie a double knot around the base of the spool until it’s tight. Then screw the top cone back on while keeping line tight. Keep pressure on line to make it tight and start reeling. That’s it! Hope this helps.

Hi Angah. This spincast set-up is the Abu Garcia Ike Dude Spincast Combo. Model # IKE3SC6/562M. My 5-year old son loves it and it holds up well against largemouth. Hope this helps.

I had the same issue and I was able to fix it from what I provided in the video. Make sure the spring thats located under the silver top is well oiled. Also, check to see if line is wrapped around the inside of the reel. Hope this helps.

Sometimes these get stuck on there pretty good. Try soaking the reel in warm water for 30 minutes or so to see if that helps loosen things up. Tight lines 🎣

Keep your cam (cellphone) in the right direction... when filming OR taking pictures... you need to hold your phone horizontal. Just as you would do with a standard camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
