Thank you so much for posting these videos. I went through them all, now have a super clean washing machine which in the end only needed this last fix of a bit of oil on the pump. So grateful for your thorough and easy to follow instructions.

Thank you so much! Our washer started squealing 2 days ago and wouldn’t fill- in desperation I checked Reddit/google etc then found your video. When I heard the now familiar squealing sound from your washer and found out it only needed a squirt of dry oil it was such a relief! The hardest part was moving stuff around so we could get the washer tipped back and get to the pump (tiny laundry room). Thanks again for posting this easy to follow video- now we have clean clothes for school and we didn’t have to go to the laundry mat 😊

Best advice ever. Simple fix that saved me the cost of a service call. Thank you

Service call here is $150 just to drive out plus the cost to repair. So if the dude puts some CRC on it, I will still pay at least $150 plus time. It sucks. Time to buy some CRC .

As soon as I heard the awful squawking noise, I knew this was the right video! A few squirts of silicone spray made our pump happy for a while. We were able to get a few more loads of laundry done and now that I know the source of the noise, I can easily replace it. Thanks for the troubleshooting video.

As long as the pump isn't overheating and cutting out you shouldn't need to replace it, usually the CRC will do the trick for a few years.

Thanks, mate. This will stop the screeching in both the washer and my wife who is tired of it making this noise, LOL. We love F&P products here in the USA.

This is the exact noise my machine is making. It only happens when the machine is filling with water. We have been filling it with water from a bucket to keep it from making this noise. I will buy some CRC and give it a few shots. Thanks.

It may be when the pump is recirculating the water, if your machine has that function. Otherwise the water valves can make whistling sounds sometimes at certain exact pressures but it sounds different.

Can’t wait to see more videos! Hopefully you’ll do a motor controller replacement video and for example tell people about replacing blown controllers and fault codes that relate to the board and how to size the module, don’t mean to be bossy! 😃

@@lukekneebone9831Before that I would need to cover correctly diagnosing faults etc, so many people jump to assuming any problem is a faulty board. I think that is a bit too in depth for the average user. I'm thinking of starting a separate channel for more complex technician training videos and keeping this for self help and easy fixes.

Yeah totally agree. But yeah that’s where I was coming from about correctly diagnosing the board faults. Obviously some faults are just controller related. But then most are say, error 136, it can be a faulty rotor position sensor or motor or motor controller.

What about the rotor position sensor errors? Even though I know how to fix these anyway, but really love your videos! 😊.

Hey everyone we did this to ours before even watching this video. Our pump had started screatching and had been making a grinding kind of noise for years but this fixed both problems. Until spindle seal started leaking only a month after doing this and the pump Burt out and tripped the rcd. I’m not sure if this is why it started leaking but I would probably replace the pump if it’s over 22 years old like our one was

My grandma had a phase 4 machine and I saved the pump of it and I put it in another phase 4 and runs good. But it squeaks sometimes, but not screechy sound but it has that yellow impeller and you can’t take those off easily.

I have seen people take the seal out and try to pack grease in but it doesn't usually last, once they start to leak its best to replace the pump. Pump shorting out can damage the controller so it not worth the risk. But if its just the noise it will usually keep going for a while longer.
@lukekneebone9831
@lukekneebone9831 3 жыл бұрын
@@motrepairs I know fluff inside the impeller threads where the seal goes can cause a pump to leak. And you shouldn't really put grease or oil in the plastic stuff as it'll go into the machine.

What would cause a similar noise earlier in the wash cycle? The Initial fill is fine quiet. When machine goes to start the secondary fill and would change flow so water would come from the top right side along with center back the machine starts making this noise. It doesn’t fill from the right for a bit then it will. Is there another pump?
@motrepairs
@motrepairs 11 ай бұрын
Sounds like you have a machine with the ECO recycling, which uses the pump to recycle the water, so its the same pump causing the noise.

What's a massive thumping noise during spin likely to be? It's also leaking at some point during the cycle.
@motrepairs
@motrepairs 3 жыл бұрын
It could be the bowl banging around out of balance? It is meant to stop itself before banging too much, either by a switch or software, depending on what model. If it keeps going out of balance easily it's often worn suspension.
@Syncop8rNZ

@@motrepairs Thanks, I'll try stopping it and rebalancing. I want to find and sort this leak before using it again though so I'll open it up and see if anything jumps out. I'm in Upper Moutere if you want to do a video on it! X-)

@@Syncop8rNZ Nice and local haha. If you can see where is it leaking from the bottom then follow it up is usually the easiest way, either fill then drain and lean it back or sit it on blocks of some sort.

My aquasmart is also leaking just a little from the front r corner, drains fine, wash cycles run fine, maybe the pump is leaking? Thanks for your FP videos, I think I can tackle this as long as I can figure out where the slow leak it coming from , it is a small puddle, no big gushes, a hand towel on the floor is my current solution lol….

Is it okay to use 4d-40 silicone spray? (This is what I was told to get for pram wheels so it doesnt pickup the dust/dirt like normal 4D-40)
@motrepairs
@motrepairs Жыл бұрын
Yes it should be fine. WD40 has less oil and more penetrant but should still have enough oil in it to lubricate it.

I did this and it fixed the squeaking noise but my whole washing load smells of the crc 5-56 can 😅 trying to do a wash without the washing and just detergent but not sure why I’m having this problem no one else seems to mention this as an issue? Any thoughts?!
@motrepairs
@motrepairs Жыл бұрын
It shouldn't get anywhere near the washing or water if you spray it on the pump? You are doing it from the outside? Don't spray any around the pump impeller that sits in the water. It only needs a quick 1/2 second squirt on each bearing.
@laravanleeuwen1757

Thanks for quick response. I didn’t take the whole pump out just propped up and did quick sprays so not sure how it could have got the water section… I’ve done 3 vinegar, baking soda and detergent washes on hot but seems the only tiny improvement is that the smell is not permeating the rooms air so much but it still coats the drum after the wash. I’ll keep repeating that unless any other ideas?
@motrepairs
@motrepairs Жыл бұрын
@@laravanleeuwen1757 As you say if you didn't take the pump off there is no way it could have got into the drum so I would say its got there another way such as off a rag that has then been washed or something. You can look at my other video about taking the drum out to clean it all down, and maybe a hot wash will help.

Any oil or lubricant should do the trick. If you have the exact same noise I play in the video here then I'd guess you may have not got the silicone in the right place, may have missed the bushings.

@motrepairs
@motrepairs 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I should have mentioned the sound can be a sign that it is starting to leak. If you take the pump out you can unscrew the top impeller and pack the seal full of grease, but most of the time that is a temporary fix and the only permanent fix is to fit a new pump. (Pump just unclips, see video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqHMgpSqbamEmas)
