Haven't had this happen before, but now I am intrigued- what is a Bump Viewer Material? Something to do with bump mapping?

Well, it's not really used very much, but means you can paint bump details onto a mesh without affecting the underlying sculpting. So let's say you had something with a lot of sculpted detail and you wanted to see what it would look like with fine cells or pores or other detail? You can fill your object with a flat grey (127, 127, 127) and then anything you paint with a higher value will appear to be raised off the surface and anything darker will look recessed. You just use the bumpviewer material to see the results, live, as you're painting. Don't like it? Just fill with a flat colour again to remove them. Handy, but not often used.
