The /ONLINE switch for DISM doesn't mean it's comparing your installed Windows image with a Microsoft image on the web, it means it's working with the image that is currently running or "online", as opposed to working on an offline image, which can be a WIM file or a copy of Windows on any volume that did not boot the active OS. So if you booted from a USB drive or Windows Recovery Environment, the image you want to repair on your HDD or SSD is now an offline image, not online. Don't spread misinformation, I criticized most of my college instructors for the same thing, repeatedly. College education is despicable and critical thinking is in drought.

Booted up my PC this morning to find a myriad of problems--couldn't use the search bar or open settings, chrome wouldn't open, couldn't find a way to look for Windows updates, DNS server not responding--and so much else. Spent hours researching and troubleshooting, and actually started casually looking at new PCs. Then I stumbled across this video, found a spare flash drive, and a clean reinstall of Windows fixed all my problems! Subbed!

Thanks a million for posting this. I had to do everything you suggested, but the last procedure totally worked! I couldn’t type anything in search, couldn’t get into settings, couldn’t get to where I could attempt a system restore. The computer seemed to forget most everything including taskbar items, printer configurations, passwords, etc.,etc. After completely restoring Windows, everything went right back to where it used to be. Thank you so much -- this video helped me tremendously! I had a laptop that would hang on a black screen for several minutes after I logged in. Then once the desktop showed up, it seemed that all file associations -- and even some system files -- had been lost. There was no Start menu, nothing on the taskbar was clickable, Win-I and several other things didn't work, etc. Fortunately, Win+R worked as did the Administrator mode Power Shell, so I was able to do a little troubleshooting. Nothing got fixed, though, until I went through your procedure using the flash drive to refresh Windows. And nothing was lost in the process except that a few minor settings reverted to their defaults, which was easy enough to correct. Excellent tutorial!

Hey Nico love your videos and learned alot from them. Originally i thought my pc was hacked because every time i scanned my c drive my pc would crash and i would get the blue screen.Then i scanned every file in my c drive and found that a "servicing" folder is what was causing this. At the last 99% the blue screen would appear without fail. Will running these scripts fix that as well ?

man windows this new update fucked me up I updated because my last update have a only a minor bug where somehow the windows ink something randomly pops up and click randomly to stop it is just turn off my laptop wifi then I go to taskbar and remove the icon windows ink from taskbar. this happen so much that I decide that maybe If I update it will fix itself but hell nah. Right now suffering from this depressing issue, Search bar is missing not working, taskbar take so long to load before the Icon show, and windows settings, desktop anything related to it hang and crashes. Also startup apps takes too long to pop up :c Edit: Thank you bro!! I did those 2 instruction it didn't work first but I did the first step again restart and it worked!! the installation continued thank you so much!!

One issue i had with reinstalling windows is that i didn't have 8G flash drive so i downloaded the iso file to the download folder on C drive. But then it wouldn't run and after a lot of fumbling, it was because iso file wasn't mounted as a separate drive. Can you kindly add this option to your video and include mounting directions. Hey man thank you for this! I may try this But I have a problem, i was on fl studio and my cpu overloaded and ended up getting stuck. So i press Ctrl shift and delete to open the task manager to close it and it didn’t work so I forced shut my laptop down and when I powered it back on the internet was working fine for the first 5 minutes after that every website I click on doesn’t work unless I went to it in that first 5 minutes that i powered my laptop on. I’ve tried everything with the network connection with the videos I’ve seen but i don’t think it’s that…it seems like it has something to do with my system. I’ve been searching everywhere to see if anyone else experienced this problem so i could resolve it and i haven’t found anything. What do you think it could possibly be and do you think you have a solution?

When I go to settings in Windows 10 and click Personalization for example. It takes longer than normal. Whats that about? Only option left is to try the last part with reinstalling Win10. Didn't know I could do that without losing my Games/Apps

Hi Nico, I'd like to see a video made about Windows WMI errors' . I've had these errors in my Event log for the past year and I haven't found much for regular Windows 10 users. I found out I could use WBEMTEST in CMD but Im not very savy on getting to and or finding these errors in this tool . In the Event logs it does give you suggestions on what to fix for these errors but it's getting to the correct place is what i've struggled with. Exp: WMI error NVbrightness or task timed out before getting reply etc.....

Amazing videos Nico, I had an issue maybe you could help me with. I have ran Tron to verify I don’t have any malicious programs on my system. The original reason thought I had a malicious program was that one of my games takes 10 minutes to even boot up, it stays on a black screen and then finally will load. Any suggestions to help speed up this process? I have a ryzen 2700x, 2070 super, 32GB of ram, and everything is saved onto a 1TB M.2 drive so everything in theory should be fast. Thank you!

Disable hardware acceleration in chrome settings. In task manager it is very common to see several chrome tasks for even on tab. Browsers use A LOT of system resources, but they don’t need to use so much. Disable hardware acceleration and that will reduce the CPU load but there will still be the processes because that is how chrome works. Partly why I don’t use Chrome

Hey Terrence, I personally dislike Chrome. It is a ram hog and is a privacy issue for me. I use Firefox or Brave, however I recommend changing the settings of the browser. Disable hardware acceleration. HW acceleration only benefits VERY old machines that are too slow for modern websites. Disabling HW acceleration prevents the browser from tying up your CPU and ram just because you have tabs open.

Sorry but this didn't work for me. It also will not let me download anything and when I attempt to it just shuts down everything - no functionality at all. I had to turn my computer off then restart it several times to get it to run again. Now it is the same - Windows 10 button still doesn't function and the search bar next to it and Cortana and all other functions of the tool bar except the internet options, the file folder and the all the stuff on the right work as well as the desktop but the Windows file search did nothing for me. NEXT!! I guess I'll have to pay someone to fix it properly since I am not a computer tech. Thanks for trying any way.
