@@jjim138 Well, I don't know how it originally started, but I did all the other complicated steps so that might have fixed the original cause. But it turns out I messed with some settings in my BIOS and turned off the "LAN Radio" while I was troubleshooting random stuff. Didn't realize that was my dumb motherboard's word for "wifi antenna". Switching that off is the same as hitting the wifi button you see on all these laptops, which is why I was having the same symptoms despite being on desktop. Again though, I'm pretty sure this was not the actual problem I had. That part I fixed inadvertently and never found out what it was.

I currently am having the same issue and tried that same Fn + F2 shortcut but it switches airplane mode on and off instead for some reason. That does not affect the wifi unfortunately. It always still remains off

That used to work for me, but the Toshiba software appears to have forgotten it now. When I first got the PC, I had control over the Special Functions and could view the settings. This has subsequently disappeared and the "WiFi" button no longer has that effect. So the machine remains with no connection to Internet.
