How to Fix YN560 Stuck at Full Power Problem | 永諾 Yongnuo YN 560 III 560IV

I have two YN560III and one YN560VI, and all of them came with the same problems at some points : Stucking at Full Power!
Recently, 2 of my YN560 got the same problem at the same day on photo shooting. Very frustrating. So, I did some research and found out about this little unit : IGBT.
*** The IGBT model : TIG056BF
It is only around 50NT dollars ( 1.5 US ) and wasn't that hard to fix as I taught at the first place.
I have successfully fixed both of my YN560 and would like to share with you guys! :))

I got like 4 or 5 of these flashes with different suppliers and everyone of them had the same problem. Terrible quality control by Yongnuo. It’s cool that people like you came up with these kind of solutions but this is something Yongnuo should have done right from the start.

Change with new IGBT but after one or two test and full power again or IGBT broke again, replace and always like that.... Why?

Hi! I bought the IGBT you recommended. I have the YN 565ex ii. I opened it and to my surprise, I wasn’t able to find the IGBT inside. I tried opening it and found nothing compared to your video. My flash is stuck at 1/1. Can you do a repair video for 565ex ii? Thanks

Unfortunately my YN565EX has felt on the floor and battery cover is damaged. Reflection board and wide angle diffuser felt out from their compartment. I manage to find spare battery cover but have problem how to reach inside the diffuser compartment. It is over flash head and seems separated, but I am afraid to employ force to detach it by screwdriver or knife. Do you know what is the right way to remove this cover. Thank you

Thanks for this fixvid! I just had this problem with my flash 2 days ago and I brought it to camera repair shop nearby and left it there for check up from their technician. I'll just wait for their rate of service for the repair, if it's too much then I'll fix my flash on my own. Thank you very much! :)

I already watched it. I just want to ask too if your TIG056 has failed again after replacement, if yes, how long does it take before it failed again?

Harvey Salvador The main reason that causes it fails is because of the heat problems. If it is indoor, it's ok. but if it is outdoor with big bright sun in summer, very likely to break again very easily. Especially when I am in Asia, very hot here. That's when the module units becomes very handy. :)

btw, in the video I mentioned about YN660 as my backup flash in case I didn't fix it successfully. Though I fixed it in the end, I did use and test YN660. Turns out it works pretty well against the big bright sun outdoors. Both of my YN560 broke again and YN660 survived twice. I was very impressed.

I think you need same.... But better option is. You open your flash and read the name of igtb and use the same igtb

Not useless I'd say, just don't use it too much in succession (i.e. full power). I trashed my first YN 560IV flash as well this morning (not using it even on full power, but it seems 1/16 or 1/32 is already too much if you flash in succession in a short time, it just takes longer to bust the IGBT unit, but it will eventually burn as well in the end....the heat stacks up anyway).

That was something I was wondering as well, if you just use a solder pump that sucks away all solder with a lot of focussed under-pressure you could just pull the defective IGBT out and stick a new one in the same spot.

@@jorismaasvisuals it's not that difficult. You should just heat ends one by one, and slightly sway IGBT. legs will go out quite easy. Similar to put replacement - you preheat holes, than put IGBT legs one by one. I mean - no need in special tools. It can be done faster that you read this =)

I did some research. If the result I found were correct , you should go for IGBT Transistor RJP4301.

Good question! I touched an old capacitor of an old Nikon Speedlight (after almost 8 years of not using the defective flash unit) and I got a BIG electric shock. It holds it's capacity pretty long apparently, not a nice feeling when you get electrocuted.
