In this video I'm covering two of my surfers as they progress their surfing, specifically their manoeuvres and take off / pop up, at one of my day-retreats at the wave pool in Melbourne.
We have a much more live, reality-tv feel style of this story to share but it was going to be a really heavy lift right now to get it all done and polished. I think it's something we'll film more intentionally at my Maldives retreats coming up September October and in Feb back at the pool.

I used to be spiteful towards surfing because it reminded me of my deadbeat dad but you’ve helped me move past that and find joy and peace in the sport, thanks!

Hey so I’m surfer one in this video and the amount I learnt in one day was amazing. I went from just about popping up on a backside wave on my “comfort foamie mini mal” to doing my first backside turn. Basically Kale said think sit into the bottom turn, then dig a shovel up the wave and then pretend you’re punching something at the top of the wave. First backside wave was 11am, 2nd was 2pm. If you’re considering doing a course with Kale DO IT! @kale thank you again

Thank you so much, my pop-up was so slow I missed the wave of my life because I couldn't pop-up quick enough to cut across the face. This seriously helped.

I used your instructions to improve my SUP surfi g. I am an intermediate sup surfer but now i can do SO much more. I began to train with a surfskate as you suggested and changed my world. I use a coreban platinum plus sup which shape is very close a surf, of 8.6 feet 130 lit with me weighting about 94 kg.

Kale, a great tip on teaching people to turn and carve hard is to get them scurfing. Ten minutes behind a boat is month's worth of time on a board for a beginner. They have time to move feet around and be comfortable and turn into harder and harder hacks. It's great for learning stial

Hi Kale! Thanks for this insightful vid! So good to see this big progress with only a few small changes. How would you “fix” the first surfer’s pop-up? Any advice on that? Cheers!

Wicked video - thanks for the consistently informative and digestible analysis! Have you got any tips for not putting the back knee down at the pop up, like with surfer 1? I'm at a very similar stage to them in this video, but am running the risk of getting frustrated by my back knee always going to the deck. Thanks 😇

@@KalesBroccoli Hi Kale! Thank you for responding! Amazing videos by the way! 🥳 I’m glad I found your channel!! We will be visiting Melbourne soon! This is definitely one on the bucket list 😅 However, for a beginner session: are there any longboards to rent? Or do we have to bring our own? Thanks again! 😊

I really like your content and it helped me a lot, but I don't like how you are calling your guide place "university". Gives me Prager U vibes and I don't like it. Just calling it a Uni doesn't make it one. There are so many other names for auch places it doesn't have to be a actually protected term. In your case making the calls what's uni and whats not is job of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency.
