Knowing how to fix your shoe shine may not come easy to most but after practicing a few times it will become natural to all. The major downside of applying a mirror shine is the inevitable fact of potentially cracked polish. That cracked polish often frightens people into believing something is wrong. But it is not. It is the nature of the beast. The same goes for shoe shines that are applied too quickly and with too much water, leaving open pores.

Justin, please do a video on Long-term maintenance of mirror shine as well. As I mentioned before I have a few pairs that I have maintained a mirror shine on for over 7 years now. I do condition them but of course the toe and heel which I just maintain once in a while if cracked, do not absorb the conditioner due to layers of waxes. Now should I remove these layers and condition them or keep going as I already am? You have mentioned in your videos before that leather is robust and there is no need to over condition it. But when is a good time to really not fix the mirror shine but strip it, condition it and do the entire process from the beginning. Always grateful for your professional guidance. Hey Justin. Great Video. I had that exact same issue with my Sunnyside Plum Museum salfskin I purchased from you, but I kept brushing it and brushing it till my arm fell off😂. Hey Robert, glad that you enjoyed! Yea I dont know what it is with the Plum museum that does that. Its the only color that leaves residue and shows the pores like that. 🤷‍♂️ but this helps fix it. I think the factory is shining with too much water

You can on black, for sure. What I was attempting to say is that on colors not black, I am more careful with the heat gun. Cordovan is susceptile to color change

Not sure if i should ask this question here , but since thus video is on shining shoes so here goes. I dont really like polishing my shoes and my wife really hates the mess that comes with regular shoe polish . So i have resorted to the liquid squeeze bottle with the sponge applicator polish . I have heard this dries out or damages the shoe somehow , is this true and can this be mitigated when used in conjunction with a leather conditioner. Lazy guy asking 😂

It is true. Full of chemicals not good for the leather. Send your shoes to a shoe-shiner

I guess it's a yakhair-brush. Those often have a line of goathair at the border surrounding the yakhair as seen in the video. It's the best brush you can get. Your show will shin faster and much more compared to horsehairbrush. I myself like using horsehairbrush first for removing excessive shoepolish or wax and then highshine it with a goathair- or yakhairbrush.
