First time I saw this clip I was making a string. There was something about this man talking calmly. Second time I was making a string serving and locking up how to end the knot. The KZbin clip just went on. I was I bit stressed and I realise how calming it’s to leasing to this man making this string… There’s is something profoundly human about this clip. I just love it.

He makes it looks easy. I will have to watch it a few times until learning how to do it without a jig. The old man didn't grab any measuring device, only eye balling the bow itself, that is a ton of experience right in front of us, what a class. Thank you very much Sir!

I have watched many other videos about bowstrings. I don't get most of them as they babble too much about inches mm's etc. This is soo different. Love the man. I get everything clearly. I can make it now. It was soo simple when Gramps here explained it. Thank you ❤️❤️

So I just picked up an old Pearson specter 52” and decided to give this a try… Thank you , thank you!!! This is such an amazing method,, I cannot believe more people do not know this! This removed 95% of all the guess work with loop size, length etc I would absolutely love to hear his take on Aero tuning and how to pick the proper spine for your bow. I have a feeling he would completely demystify the entire industry

Great job. .👍

Excellent video! -- In the 1970's, I made several bowstrings that used a single strand wrapped back-and-forth between two nails. And I wrapped servings at both loops and at the center of the string. But the loops had only half the number of strands as did the rest of the string. -- The Flemish twist bowstring should be twice as strong as the single-strand string. -- I'm so glad I came across this video!

i'm relatively new to both hunting and archery, i started both activities last year and i'm getting to be decent at shooting, but this year i've got a couple recurves with no strings, one is an old Ben Pearson Colt7070 that was in my attic for almost 20 years, it needs some severe love but i'm going to restore it, this video was the best thing i could have found to get started in string making! the other recurve that i have is an old Bandito, i forget the maker, but it's in really great condition, finish is scuffed up, but it's mostly well kept, thanks Mike and Brad!

I made a cheap jig from a 2x10 and nails. I have never seen this before. I like it. I wonder if it will work the same for a longbow Wonderful work Thank you
@troy42193 жыл бұрын
It'll work exactly the same, you'll have to decide where the top nock loop will start. Play around with it... Look at longbows that are unbraced to get an idea where to start your loop.

Respectfully, you’ve got to consider changing your thumbnail for this video. Maybe even the title. I stumbled across it not as a search result but as a recommended video after another far inferior video. This isn’t the easiest to follow tutorial, or the easiest and clearest video, but it is an utterly charming 20 minutes of someone conveying knowledge from a lifetime of experience. It should have way more views.

Hi, there is one thing I don't understand, when you finish the first loop ... before going to the other side to start the second ... how do you block the windings already made to prevent them from unraveling by themselves?
@lesw.76914 жыл бұрын
Anything small that will clamp on the string where the flemish twist stops will work. Wife gave me a bunch of different types of little hair clips that work pretty good.

When I look up b55 Dacron there are 2 sizes 1/4# and 1# which are you using for the bow string
@PointOnArchery4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the B50 Dacron that I have used in the past doesn't have that spec written on it, so I don't know which size it is, but Lancaster sells the BCY B55 in the #1/4 only, and it has decent reviews. I would bet that going with the #1/4 stuff will be just fine, just make sure you have the right strand count for your bow. When I'm building a bow string for my 35-45lb bows I usually put together a 14-16 strand string.
