Fixing the black flocking on heads and tails of Avian-X decoys prior to hunting season. It's all in the prep work !

Just a tip to give you less headache sanding. I always just use self etching primer and I do floaters a lot and it works out fine and most of these decoys are ones I have found or have been shot and I repair. Just a tip you can take it or leave it to you liking. Keep making videos no need to just keep buying new decoys.

Thanks for the tip and the comment. I appreciate it ! I am actually downsizing a bit my decoy spread right now. Alot of decoys takes alot of time and energy to set out haha. Cheers and good luck hunting next season ! Steve

Your way is a lot simpler than using that little blower thing. Like the black tremclad as glue idea. I've used white out for the cheeks with good result. Thanks for the video.

I am not sure if my method holds up as good to abuse as the blower thing, but nonetheless feels good to do touch ups, maybe once every season and things look good ! Thanks for watching man ! Hope your summer is going well, Steve

I seen video's where they use gloss black because it doesn't dry as fast and the flocking sticks better. The gloss doesn't show through. Not sure if it works better or not.

Would it be ok to mix up avian x goose and flambeau U-vison up in your spread

Yes for sure. I mix multiple brands of decoys in my spread. A real flock has different colours, sizes and postures in a field. Having different styles of decoys, in my opinion imitates a natural flock very well. I'd mix them in and see what happens, just make sure your blind is well brushed up and face is well hidden.

Do you really believe the geese would notice the difference? It's such a small detail for me. But I'm not Mother Goose!

I am not sure to be honest. When geese flare off it is either because they hear an odd call (bad caller), they see something unnatural in your hide (not hidden well enough), they don't like your spread shape (decoys too close together or too spaced), You are too close to trees or something a building or something, or they don't like your decoys (decoys not so realistic)... It is probably not a huge detail the simple tails but multiply this by 24 or 48 decoys and all of a sudden the flock looks better as a whole. Maybe I am just crazy too ! Having fun with it haha
