I agree to drop the annoying music. Also, you skipped over replacing the inner bowl of the impeller housing. Great narrative and including anti-seize on the bolts is essential. Well done !

Hot (medium) water is best for dissolve salt. I have installed a hot/cold water mixer tap outside for flushing. I avoid chemicals as they can damage the interior Teflon engine coating over time. Always flush for a few minutes before starting engine. Top flush is best to avoid any particals being lodged into engine.

Hi there. I have a brand new 2021 F25 Yamaha and was wondering if the water pump gets any water through it using the easy hose connection. Very helpful videos. Thanks so much from a Florida viewer. 👍

The rectangular ear muffs ( brand new) dont seal properly on my 65 Yammy and will not pump the water through the telltale. I tried squeezing them together and putting them in hot water to soften them up a bit. Still no good. I borrowed an old round set from a mate and they picked up the water straight away and pissed it strongly out of the telltale. Anyone want a brand new used once pair of rectangular earmuffs for free ? Would it be a good practice to leave the motor idling for a minute or so after the muffs are removed so as to pump out any water still remaining inside the motor ? ( Obviously turning motor off as soon as the telltale stops running. )

I've forgotten to screw the cold flush cap back on once or twice when running the motor with flush muffs and water from bottom up, what are the affects of doing this ? I do know when doing this, water comes back out the cold flush pipe...usually shut it down after about 30secs...model is 2016 F130hp 4 Stroke.
@BrisbaneYamaha2 жыл бұрын
What the ? Why flush muffs- there a problem not solution If engine didn’t get enough water it will over heat if hot enough engine will go into limp mode before any real damage The fresh water flush is all you need to wash salt out of motor And you don’t start it just let water flow

I thought the engine block itself is supposed to be sprayed with Yamashield (similar to Boeshield T9) while the Silicone spray was more specific for rubber seals/gaskets/etc (silicone is a great rubber conditioner and prevents cracking/drying/etc).
@BrisbaneYamaha Жыл бұрын
Wow all true but not Yamaha make protective lubricants for many purposes When your leaving an outboard for months on end you do a different process but for normal proventitive Maintanence yamaha recommend their proprietary silicon spray And I can tell you it works a treat and will keep your motor looking new For long term storage we recommend flogging motor internally with another yamaha product

Best of done at marina or when you get home in the driveway. If I bring my boat in at night, I'll flush it the next morning. That is as long as I wait. You don't want the salt drying onto internal surfaces or starting the corrosion process.

If you run it in salt water you want to flush through the intake ports with muffs squeeze inside the hose a little dawn dish soap and run till clean water runs out! Been doing this for years on all my boats and water craft and the water jackets in the heads have always been very clean with almost no salt deposit!
@marchbah8 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't you flush the engine then wash it down then apply the silicone protection? I ask this because wouldn't the silicone make it difficult to wash off the salt? Just asking.

Would wd40 be inappropriate as a lubricant?
@jimmyrecard60212 жыл бұрын
Yes. it's not really a lubricant in the first place, it's more of a cleaner with lubricating properties. Use something like silicone lubricant

@mikeb.16744 жыл бұрын
He simulated if you had just gotten off the water.
@treydrier31696 жыл бұрын
One major point he missed is to make sure to flush it with Salt Away if you're in salt water. It removes the salt much better than regular H2O and provides corrosion protection. The salt literally melts off. You flush for a couple minutes with regular H2O then Salt Away for another minute or so. Do not flush again with H2O after applying Salt Away because of the corrosion protection from Salt Away. I will then rinse my entire boat with Salt Away including the areas around the motor that this guy points out in the video. Its the only way to prevent corrosion and it works.
