It's funny that the Mi-8 is easier to land without the tail rotor. 90% of the RU pilots lose it due to landing gear compression. You don't need to worry about it if it's not there XD.

What peripherals do you use? I bought an analogue keyboard recently and I was going to check and see if it would make flying easier

@@ArmaPilot I haven't properly bound it all since it's a pain, but I bound A + D as it helps with driving unironically. It's interesting you use mouse as it feels super sluggish to me.

Once a helo gains enough forward motion, the main rotor act like a wing instead of a propeller. It's then flown in a similar manner as an airplane and no longer needs a tail rotor for airframe stability. he only time a helo needs a tail rotor is during very low speeds in order to counter the rotating mass of the main rotor. You can see in this video that once the pilot gains forward motion, the spinning stops and he's able to fly the helo with full control even without the tail rotor.

@@Karmaplays824 IRL this is how a helo works. There are two separate and distinct phases to helo flight; the aircraft without enough forward momentum and the aircraft with forward momentum in which the main rotor's lift comes not from the rotating lift, but as a "stationary" wing. This is known as "Translational lift". Translation is the conversion from the hover to forward flight.

once you get enough forward velocity in a helicopter the tail rotor is no longer needed. the tail rotor only helps control it at low speeds, but the main rotor acts as a wing at high speeds to stabilize it
