A run through the main features of the Kodiak cockpit layout with hints and tips on some of the hidden click spots!
I didn't mention the parking brake, but its highlighted at 5:00 and located under the pilot's yoke.
Also, I didn't mention the angle-of-attack indicator on top of the glareshield - it will get a mention in a future tutorial.
If you want to see a real Kodiak pilot at work and general all-round awesome pilot make sure to check out ‪@MissionaryBushPilot‬
You can add the Max Take-off torque and Vr/Vref cockpit placards used by Ethanos360 Aviation in their cockpits with this great free mod: flightsim.to/f...

I just bought this plane about a week ago, and my left and right pitot heat switches do not move. Is this not modeled in the aircraft, or am I maybe doing something wrong? Thanks, great video!

Hi Mike, the are both 2-position switches: ON and OFF. They are functional , so you should be able to left click on them to change their position or, if in 'lock' mode highlight them and then use the mouse wheel to change position. If in 'legacy' cockpit interaction mode it should just be a left click. Make sure that you don't have some keyboard binding or other external peripheral bound to keep them from changing position.

Why as soon as I activate the fuel switch it starts an alarm. This did not happen before I means some months ago.

By fuel switch I'm assuming you mean the auxiliary fuel boost pump? I'm not sure tbh as it's been a few weeks since I last flew the Kodiak, but my guess would be that this is because the G1000NXi was updated in SU13 and now has master caution and warning tones I believe. Cancel the alarm by pressing the Alert softkey on the bottom right of the PFD.

CONFIRMED - this is a new low oil pressure master warning. Updates to the Working Title G1000NXi have introduced this. Press the 'Alert' softkey on the bottom right of the PFD to silence it.

in the user manual I believe it said to activate the NXI Garmin, go to Marketplace. Is that how to do it? Is the NXI payware and if so how much? (i can't seem to find it in content manager of MSFS)? Is compatible with this plane?

As of Sim Update 10 the G1000nxi became the stock G1000 in MSFS, replacing the previous version. There is now no need to download or activate anything - you will have the G1000nxi...just like the real Kodiak 100 II series.

What happpens when the block time accumulates too much? Do you need to service the aircraft somewhow?

The Kodiak has values for engine state/condition and ignitor cycles. Once the engine exceeds it's condition, the chances of a failure increase. At this point the best thing to do is not to wait for it to happen in flight, but to deliberately blow the engine by starting it in LO IDLE, quit the flight and start a fresh one. This will then zero the engine condition (new engine!). You can monitor the engine condition by going into Developer Mode. The ignitors get 1500 uses before they may fail. If they do, it's simply a case again of quitting the flight. I understand that SWS plan to improve this side of things in future releases, but they are pretty fully occupied with the PC-12 right now.

@@alpinebravo7090 Many thanks. Does disable aircraft stress damage in MSFS settings negate this behaviour? It's hard enough fighting this lievely thing without having to worry about fatigue and wear|!
@alpinebravo7090

Aircraft stress, no. Engine stress..., maybe. I've never flown with engine stress disabled. Easy enough to check though: disable engine stress and then start in LO-IDLE. If the engine doesn't hot start and blow immediately then you should be good.

@@AdminVortex762 Just to add - management of power is crucial to 'taming the beast', not just in terms of avoiding damage to the engine, but achiving good consistent take off and landings. Smooth and careful application of power is important - particularly on approach and short final. The added bonus is that if you are doing all that right, then the chances of damaging the engine are much less. Sustained high-power climbs are the biggest risk -avoid the temptation to redline it to clear some ridgeline. Do a climbing orbit instead.

@@alpinebravo7090 Confirmed: MSFS 'no damage' settings are good to go i.e. no damage to engine at 1100 ITT (in the red) for a whole minute.
