I strongly encourage any and all recreational pilots to watch this video. It does an excellent job of explaining the current state of regulations in the US as well as answering a lot of the common questions pilots have. 12:48 - Q & A starts 12:50 - Clarification on flying over people 14:17 - Do you need a part 107 even if you are not being paid? 16:02 - Where is class G airspace? 16:40 - Did the FAA sell jurisdiction for airspace? Or can cities restrict the airspace above them? 18:26 - There is no CBO in my town, can I still fly my drone? 19:36 - What is the difference between recreational and part 107? 21:59 - What if my local airport is not part of the LAANC system? 21:54 - Can you fly recreational drones at night? 23:15 - Does a certified drone pilot need to get permission to fly in class E airspace? 24:10 - Where can I find the airspace map with the fixed flying sites marked? 25:28 - Will you be required to take both the part 107 test and the recreational pilot test? 27:07 - Are beaches off limits or will LAANC allow you to fly there? 28:20 - Do I need to re-register my drone when my registration expires? 29:10 - Can you clarify what you mean by "in the furtherance of a business?"

@tylerhundtoft53955 жыл бұрын
taking a test is ridiculous for the recreational civilian above 13. my 10 year old niece flies better than i do. but this would make that illegal. register the drone and leave it to the people to be safe. this is about money. the loss of money by large companies that invested hundreds of thousands if not millions in large drones and helicopters to give people the footage or to bring them up to get the footage in a heli. it adversely effects the general public even tho drones dont effect the general public in an adverse way. which regulations are supposed to address. fuck the FAA.

Except you can't share them on KZbin because, even if YOUR channel isn't monetized, KZbin still puts ads on your channel and the FAA has already gotten on people's asses about that, calling it "commercial"! And even if they fix that, it all changes once your vids become popular enough for KZbin to give you a dollar for having enough views!
@luckylou4 жыл бұрын
Christopher Grove You can set your channel to not have ads and/or your video(s) to be private/unlisted so there’s no monetization, if that’s even an issue.

So FAA regulations and fees and then throw all the individual city bans and regulations and permits in and there is no recreational drone flying any more. Way to go. I live near DC in Waldorf i light live right outside the no fly zone around DC so what do I do B4ufly says that airspace restrictions may be in effect. Am I still allowed to fly just as long as Air Force one or marine one is not near. Or do I have to go outside the area.
@FAAnews4 жыл бұрын
Waldorf is outside of the DC Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) but within the Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA). Drone flights are allowed in the SFRA provided the flight is in compliance with either Part 107 or the limited exception for recreational flyers. You do not need an airspace authorization unless you are in the controlled airspace of Joint Base Andrews. Depending upon where you are in Waldorf, you should be OK to fly your drone. The B4UFly app should advise you if you are trying to fly in controlled or restricted airspace. You can learn more at: www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_fliers/where_can_i_fly/airspace_restrictions/dc/

How far are we allowed to fly the drone mileage wise?
@dinolobato41534 жыл бұрын
Two things come to mind for me, your drones range capabilities and as long as you keep it your eye site or a visual observer eye site.. so as long as you stay in class G airspace and keep the drone in view, mileage should not mater as long as it’s in class G airspace..

I want to buy a drone but do I have to get a license if I will literally use it to record myself and friends when we are dancing for fun? not making money or anything of the sort, just fun and being creative. We post on FB, KZbin and Instagram. And will fly no high then 10 to 20ft in the air, any higher is not necessary.
@e5m9564 жыл бұрын
You just have to register your drone for $5 if it's over 250 grams so if you bought a Mavic Mini you don't even have to register it but otherwise a $5 fee and put the registration number on your drone and you're good to go. That same number can be put on all your drones if you have more than one.

@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
There is no safety test yet, so there are no study materials for it at this time. If you are in controlled airspace, it does not matter if you are below the trees or not, you will need to request authorization via LAANC before you fly.

Bruce is right, I asked for and received a clarification from the FAA that supports his comment. There are provisions for Part 107 pilots to operate 400' above structures (within a 400' radius), but this does not apply to recreational flyers.

@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
The issue is not that you are pointing a camera at people. The issue is that if you have a drone failure or something goes wrong, you could crash on top of people. Not flying over people limits that risk somewhat.

I don't fly a drone, I fly fixed wing RC aircraft and RC gliders. I maintain visual contact and follow rules established by The Academy of Model Aeronautics. Please clarify for me, does the FAA define me as a drone operator even though I am not operating a drone? Lots of my fellow RC airplane pilots are strictly recreational and are resisting the registration process because they believe that the licences are intended to apply only to drones , and not fixed wing, remotely operated aircraft.
@5zero7RC5 жыл бұрын
The regulations don't actually use the word "drone". They use terms like unmanned aircraft and sUAS ( small unmanned aircraft system ). Unmanned aircraft are defined as "an aircraft that is operated without the possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the aircraft". Therefore it is my understanding that ALL RC aircraft fall under these regulations. So if your fixed wing RC is over 250g, it must have your registration number on it. There was a facebook post the other day where an AMA field in California was visited by an FAA official and all the pilots there that day got a warning about not having their registration info on their models. As much as I may not agree with this, those are the rules we need to follow today.

I'm all for "Flying With Safety"! I like things safe and secure. People do so many stupid things. They don't have common sense like me. I'm going to ask this man if it's alright to strap on a couple of small rockets to my drone and chase planes around. I do get bored with common everyday life. Giving people in planes "Cheap Thrills" might be exciting for me. Whatever it may be to them. -Bill "Drone Pilot" Howes.

I notice that in the FAA website there is a picture of a quadcopter (drone). To me a drone is a quadcopter. Some guys at my field don't think that this drone stuff applies to them because they fly "planes".

I'm actually happy to see the F.A.A. raising the bar on UAS. There are just too many idiots who can walk out and buy a drone, know nothing and endanger people and property, not register their UAS and not follow any rules. Regulation will keep the outlaws out of the hobby. The only people that will complain about the new regs are those who are not serious enough about flying to follow through with passing a test or registration of their UAS and the new regulations will preserve the serious pilots rights to fly. If your too cheap to register at $5.00 for 3 years and displaying your registration number on the craft and passing a basic test, then you should not be flying and subject to civil and criminal penalities. The FAA is closing in on the outlaws and I'm glad to see this !!!!!
