I just tried out this Foam Clay for the first time yesterday and just wanna write down how it went in case anyone's interested because I was looking for a comment like this. Also ig I made every mistake possible. So, there definitely is a learning curve and I had to start over a dozen times to get the vague shape I wanted. You really want to use something the clay can't stick to (I was naive and tried to use cardboard as I always do and I think I have more foam stuck there than on my actual built). Also I think I made one *huge* mistake, and that was to allow the clay to be totally soaked in water when I tried to smoothe out a few things. When it's too wet you can't really do much with it until it has dried a little bit, else it will behave like some sort of slimey goo and you will slowly lose the will to live. Also, when it dries and you have a bit of a bigger piece that does not have a flat side, maybe think about turning it around every once in a while so the clay doesn't squish itself under its own weight. That being said, I believe it has almost completely dried now and turned out way better than I thought it would. When the foam clay dries it smoothes out the worst uneven spots (that I believe only came up because of how wet and gooey I accidentally made it) and it still feels squishy and soft but will go back to its original state fairly quickly if you do squeeze it. I think I'll give it another day to dry and then start sanding it (by hand... because I don't have a dremel...) and if anything of major importance happens I'll update this comment. I hope it helped someone! TL;DR Foam Clay is pretty fun and you can make almost anything with it, but don't let it get too wet or you'll end up with foam slime

so how it went?Xd
@aggresstable_cos40395 жыл бұрын
@@ojciecsmerf Way better on the second try 😅 I was quite pleased with how it all turned out once I figured out that it's better to use it without dumping it in water first. Sanding it also works really well with sandpaper

Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! So when this stuff finally totally-cures, is it a done-deal or can you reheat/re-wet it to reshape again? What is the consistency & rigidity of this stuff once it finally cures, is it spongy like EVA or more rigid? Thanks!

I was wondering could you possibly make a chest piece with the foam clay?
@cosplayshopyt6 жыл бұрын
We would not recommend using foam clay as a base for your chest piece, since you would need a lot of it and it would be harder to make. Just regular sheets of foam would do the trick. Tho that foamclay would be perfect to add details or to sculpt things on your chest piece :)

Great video! Sorry for the n00b question, but is that product the same as Model Magic by Crayola? Thanks!
@frangipane-6 жыл бұрын
Nope, I believe the crayola thing is just clay, while this is foam clay, this means that when it dries, becomes very lightweight and has the same properties as actual foam, meaning you can sand or dremel it and paint it afterwards c:

Instead of using the cling-film and having to glue the subject to the cylindrical base later, could you have sculpted the deer's head directly on the vambrace? Would it stick to it even while it dried (as I imagine there must be some shrinkage involved)?
@2424anne6 жыл бұрын
You can sculpt it on the bracers directly and it should stick on relatively well. However, to ensure a good bond, glueing it on is still your best bet ^-^ When I used it, there was no noticable shrinkage as well ^-^

would this be good to make the guard for an eva master sword?
@2424anne6 жыл бұрын
You can certainly give it a try as it depends on the type of guard! The bigger the guard, the sturdier it has to be, so HUGE guard I wouldnt recommend useing foam clay for. It isn't as hard as resin for example. Details on the guard work perfectly tho ;)

Hi. I live in the United states of America. Texas to be exact. If I were to attempt to purchase any of your products. How does that work? I've never made any overseas purchases before. So, how does that work and importantly the currency? What, How, and Where do I make exchanges of cash?
@loriemerns57414 жыл бұрын
Hello! (Just a passing comment, not affiliated with these folk. ) You're still able to purchase stuff with dollars when you're buying overseas products, it does all the converting for you :) However, you'd save a lot of money purchasing the supplies locally - all of the supplies (the foam, plastidip, contact glue etc) will also be available in stores in the States, or would be already imported locally in the States on websites like Amazon. Hope this helps!
