Thank you so much for posting this video!! I am currently pregnant with my second fluff butt. My first fluff butt, I could not get flats down to save my life! Even my mom with cloth diapered me that way tried showing me. To no avail. This Joey fold I can finally do!!! I am now so confident I am going to Joey fold fst this baby as a newborn! From birth! So thank for for giving this Momma the knowledge she needed. 💝

Melissa Alexander Jelly roll gives such a great fit but it’s tricky to get baby in there before it unrolls lol. Glad it saved your covers😉

I absolutely love the origami fold. I recently started practicing different folds and it's definitely one of my favorites... next to my lazy pad fold 😂
@ellenv.s.49136 жыл бұрын
Jay's Nest Haha yes pad folding is great! I feel like jo gives more layers of absorbency, but origami is more fun to fold:)

I have some fst and was thinking about buying the fancy flats, well I'm so glad I never ordered them, my girl doesn't stay still at diaper changes, I wish flats were an option for us 😐
@ellenv.s.49136 жыл бұрын
Maria Vargas When my kids got to the age of needing super quick diaper changes I would just lay a folded flat into a cover before hand, that way I could just slide it under baby and it was as fast as any other diaper change.

Ellen V.S. yeah, I tried the pad fold but she's very active, it doesn't work for us 😥, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Okay so here is my issue: It seems like when I do a fold around her that she gets wet and it travels to the cloth that wraps around her instead of just the cloth underneath. I feel like it makes her more uncomfortable and it makes it not as pleasant to change. Am I just not changing her frequently enough or do you have another suggestion? I pad fold now which works well and my husband prefers it but as she starts moving more I want to be able to fold around her because the pad fold seems to sag in the cover.
@ellenv.s.49136 жыл бұрын
Mama Vegg Yes to everything you said: pad folds can sag, husbands tend to prefer that fold😉, wrapping can make it wet everywhere, and diaper should be changed more frequently. If the flat is saturated enough to have covered all areas with wetness, I would def change more often for her comfort😊 You could also size up to a large flat if she’s not in them already. Newborns can pee more than one would think! Larger=more absorbency which means it won’t get as saturated as quickly.

Can I ask, did you use the newborn folds when the umbilical stump was still on (can a large be modified/folded that low)? If so, what covers did you use to go along with it? Thank you for the video this is so helpful! Cheers xx
@ellenv.s.49133 жыл бұрын
Hi :) Yes, I was able to make these large flats work when she was a newborn (she was an average size baby, about 7.5lbs at birth) with the stump. I was worried about covers that would be low enough, and it actually didn't end up being a problem. Some covers I was able to fold inward first so the velcro was still exposed on the outside to close the cover, but it lowered the rise. I made a video of her newborn stash kzbin.info/www/bejne/q17VcnitbrOXZ7c and also a newborn reaction video after using the diapers kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2mvnJ-qeamgpLM Hopefully those help give you some ideas on what to purchase :)

I forgot about the jo fold. I've been using a modified kite and a neat fold. I need one of those dolls does your mom sell them?
@ellenv.s.49136 жыл бұрын
SOULSTARBELLYDANCER7 Aren’t flats so fun?! She doesn’t sell them, she made it for Finn to match fiona’s similar one from Under The Nile. She bought the pattern off Etsy:)

this is so random, but where did you get that doll? it's adorable!
@ellenv.s.49136 жыл бұрын
My mom made it! If you google “Montessori dolls” similar ones will come up:) Under the Nile used to make a smaller similar one that my daughter has. Jill is her name, some might still be floating around the Internet. The one in the video is my son’s, my mom found the pattern on Etsy if you sew!

I tried these folds with my son in the early stages but I got lazy and just did the tri-fold lol.
